Introduction The reconstruction era, which lasted from 1863 to 1877, was a tumultuous period in the United States of America’s history. Just a few years earlier, several states had seceded and attempted to become independent. The civil war then ensued, and more states again seceded. When all the disruptions and turmoil caused by the war came to an end, the union embarked on a mission to redress all the inequalities and grievances that the seceding states and their people had so bitterly complained about. For the first time in American history, extensive attention was given to black Americans who were allowed to vote for the first time. Scholars and observers have hailed the period as the first time in America’s long and checkered history that interracial democracy was first practiced. Political activities were heightened. Angling for the new black voters, political factions pulled all the stops that they thought would make them win. The republicans ultimately won the black vote by inflaming black supremacy sentiments on the black community and managed to bring the Republican Party to power. For the…
Sports and Sociology. Watching the videos, I am impressed by the way the truth about sports is spreading. For quite a long period, people have been ‘blind’ to see the many flaws in sports. In previous centuries, the flaws in sports were not common, but things have really changed. In the past, sports was a good recipe for socialization and character development, but it is no longer the case. First, sports reflect inequality in society, as revealed by Colin Kaepernick’s video. Colin’s story is just a representation of many unheard cases where sports is a platform for inequality. For him, the US sports mistreated the blacks and the people of colour. In other spheres, inequality extends to races. Authorities heading sports are in the front line of the inequality, as evidenced by President Trump’s speech when he orders Colin to be chased away from the team. While the function of sports in society was meant to be creating symbolic value for participants, promote youthful socializations and enhance character and educational development, sports have missed the mark. Instead, sports are a…

Exercise 1 Student Instructor Institution Date Exercise 1 Research centering on a case studies provide a comprehensive understanding of an issue assumed to be complex by extending and expanding the knowledge from the previous research. A case study, therefore, provides a foundation for the application of concepts from prior research to real-life situations. However, the downside of the research technique is that it does not provide ground for determining reliability of the research results (Soy, 1997). Similarly, the use of multiple case studies my expose the research findings to case biases. In studying cyber security, a case study technique excels in establishing the social engineering element mixed with the human aspect. Further, case analysis allows the understanding of the interaction of economic, organizational, ethical, and social factors across multiple cultures and their relation to real-world technical systems. The measurement of the financial ratio, that is, the financial indicator analysis, is based on the relationship between two or more products in the financial report over the same time and measures the ratio for the estimation of the company’s financial position operational performance. Ethics case study Student’s name Professor’s name 19th November 2020 Description of the case study Damany Lewis, 29 years old, was a math teacher at parks middle school in Atlanta in 2006. The history of census categorization begins from the year 1790. The strategies the relevant authorities have always employed from the beginning are less effective due to several reasons. First, enumerators for those days merely identified individuals as Hindu, Filipino, American Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Mulatto, Black, White, or others. Their observations, instead of one’s self-identification, defined most ethnic categorization during the 1950 counting. Such categorizations were inadequate because they never revealed the social meaning of race. Instead, it merely expressed it genetically, anthropologically, and biologically, anthropologically. The 1790 Naturalization Act is a good idea because it saves people from deportation. Once an individual becomes a United States citizen, it becomes difficult to deport them unless their case is extremely unusual. Second, when one becomes a US citizen, they can travel outside and stay there for as long as they wish, and when they feel like coming back to the United States, they can always do that. The 1790 Naturalization is an excellent idea because it also enables a person to petition for their relatives. The citizen is capable of petitioning for…
