My current employer uses attraction strategies through the use of diverse employees in web and print materials. In all its forms of advertisements, including billboards and, online sites, and newspaper, the company uses people of genders, different age, religions and racial and cultural backgrounds. Being dynamic portrays an image of diversity to job applicants and automatically attracts a diverse pool of employees. The company does not leave it at advertisements but goes on to present diverse interview panels when recruiting employees. This not only ensures that the interviewee feels better but ensures that diversity will be achieved through the recruitment process. The company realized that having a one-gender-dominated or a one-race-dominated interview panel only results in a lack of diversity in the workplace. To avoid this, the diverse interview panels were introduced to ensure that a balance in age, gender, as well as ethnicity and culture was attained in the hiring process.
My current employer uses an inclusion strategy that involves initiating equal pay policies across the organization. Before this initiative, employees used to be paid differently regardless of position and experience. However, the equal pay policy ensured that people in the same job position and with similar levels of experience were paid equally regardless of gender, race, and age. To top on the equal pay policy, the company has also started offering sensitivity training to all its employees. This training educates employees on how their behaviours and attitudes could offend their co-workers and the people around them. The sensitivity training encouraged employees to ask colleagues about their cultures to avoid harming some people in making any judgment made.
Question: How has your company demonstrated a lack of diversity by failing to use strategies in the article, and how do you think it affects the organization?
