Understanding Introverts and Extroverts

I recognize myself more as being an extrovert. I always tend to be outgoing throughout my life and usually love it when I have friends around me. Furthermore, I am fast at making critical decisions, affecting the outcomes since I do not develop clear goals and objectives. Susan Cain’s talk resonated with my ideologies when she describes that extroverts crave large amounts of stimulation (Cain, 2012). It is true that when extroverts are amongst a group of people, they will be stimulated to do various things or perform some functions compared to when they are alone.

Moreover, Susan Cain believes that every individual falls between the introvert/extrovert spectrum, thus developing the ambiverts. This idea is true since, at some point, extroverts need their humble time to handle their tasks without interventions. On the other hand, introverts have to speak out with other peers or people at given points in life.  However, I can’t entirely agree with Susan Cain when she argues that introverts develop the best ideas. A successful idea can be created by a group of people when shared and validated. Single-made ideas may have some loopholes which could be identified when shared with other individuals.

As I was growing up, my family faced some financial difficulties after my father was demoted. My friends knew about this and would use it to mock me. Therefore, I decided to practice introversion to ensure that I avoided the mockery. I remained indoors until the situation was indemnified. A few years later, I lost my brother. Sitting down in the house made me remember our memories of playing games and doing several kinds of stuff together. I decided to practice extroversion and visited several friends who welcomed me happily. I played with them and could hardly remember my brother.

I tend to admire extroverts more than introverts due to my social nature. I like conversing with people and sharing several ideas. Even romantically, I love extroverts due to their several advantages. For instance, an extrovert lover would share with me new ideas and encourage me to live in my comfort zone. Moreover, in social settings such as family gatherings, extroverts can assist through their talks compared to the silence introverts. As an extrovert, working with introverts is quite challenging. Introverts tend to be highly sensitive people (The Myers & Briggs Foundation., n.d.). Therefore, it would be difficult to make jokes with them as you may not know their opinions. It would instead sound happy to work with an introvert than an extrovert.
