Two Things You Should Do to Avoid Overseas Money Scams

According to research by scamwatch.com, over 144,000 scam cases were reported in 2019 alone, which led to the loss of over a whopping $118 billion. While overseas money scams don’t take the lion’s share, the rate at which it’s growing is alarming.

If you don’t know what overseas scams are, here’s are good examples. You can receive emails from “charity organizations” with requests to help them financially. Or there is an opportunity to invest in a foreign county with chunks of money in return.  The new method is whereby you find “new love” on social media, and they want to relocate to your country. They ask you money for “relocating expenses.”

In case you come across such cases, you need to be careful lest you get scammed your hard-earned money.

However, there is always something you can do to stay safe. Have a read at the following ways;

·        Do Not Believe

Let’s face it – we are humans, and sometimes we are gullible. Someone can sweep us by our own feet when they play with our emotions.

Scammers’ plans are well executed with loads of convincing factors to make you give in. They can either advise you to use simple money transfer options or cashier’s check.

The rule of the game is not to believe anything easily. Take your time to review, research, and ask specific questions to expose their nudity.

·        Choose Reliable Money Transfer Providers

If, by any chance, you have done your research, and concluded that they are legit, don’t send money directly, use a reliable money transfer.

Money transfers don’t do transactions blindly. They have anti-fraud units with strategies to prevent you from getting scammed. It’s the safest way to keep your money intact even after the scammer was able to trick you.

Conclusion

Money transfer scams are becoming common these days. Many people are caught pants down, and they lose millions. You don’t have to be in the same lot. Become your own watchdog.
