Traditional research involves face-to-face interaction between the researcher and a participant to allow the participants’ verbal feedback and capture their emotional reaction. Therefore, research is not just limited to reading books, journals, and other written material. While information from other knowledgeable and experienced personnel about a given topic is important, obtaining one-on-one information helps provide current and accurate data. In addition, researchers must be keen to identify the right personnel/target market to ensure they gather knowledge that can test educational theories.
Traditional research offers much more than is provided in the academic syllabus because it provides an insight into the “not so obvious” aspects of how things function in the academic world. Researchers are able to gather more information as well as have a better insight into possible career opportunities. An individual can achieve this by mingling with personnel and experts of similar interests. This aspect does not only build research proposals, but it also helps to transition better into the career field because of relevant and adequate knowledge. These communities are also up to date on current events and situations in their field of study, thus leaving a positive impact.
Research scholar communities can be time-consuming and exhaustive, considering the high number of participants the researcher has to meet. Keep in mind that meeting is not enough, considering that the researcher must carry out conversations with each potential participant. In many cases, accessing the relevant participants is challenging because of several reasons. Sometimes, these people target many other researchers, making it difficult for you to talk to them. It can also be overwhelming when it comes to addressing crowds compared to sitting on a desk and completing research via print or written material.
Tradition research remains an effective way of gathering qualitative data and information for researchers. Traditional research provides relevant and up to date information for scholars in higher education institutions as well as individuals seeking to better their career objectives. Face-to-face interactions gather both verbal and emotional reactions to a subject matter, thus improving content quality by reducing biasness.
