The following are therapeutic approaches that can apply to Kamala; Narrative therapy. In this approach, Kamala is encouraged to explore their past by developing stories that she tells in the present, and the therapist will work with her to discover thicker narratives that emerge from disparate descriptions of the experience, weakening the hold of the negative narrative. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing is another approach which will address factors that contribute to a wide range of problems through looking at the experience that lies at their root, current situations that trigger dysfunctional emotions, beliefs, and sensations, and the positive experience that is needed to enhance future adaptive behaviors and mental health. Counseling is another approach that can be used in the case of Kamala. Counseling aims at alleviating suffering solve problems and help people to live a more satisfying life. Counseling targets particular symptoms or situations and explores ways of dealing with them (Deblinger et al. 2015). Another approach is group therapy. Group therapy involves the use of the power of the group to bring change in individuals. Group therapy reduces the loneliness in sexually abused girls, reducing their feeling of shame. Another approach is sensorimotor psychotherapy. This approach helps the client to discover the habitual and automatic attitudes, both physical and psychological, by which they generate patterns of experience. This approach teaches the client to follow the processes of the body and mind to promote healing.
Evidence-based clinical interventions to Kamala case include; Post-exposure prophylaxis. This intervention is appropriated since Kamala was penetrated. In this intervention, the victim is medically evaluated; if the victim is not in the window period and the penetrative abuse has occurred within a month, the victim is taken to Pediatric ART Centre to decide concerning PEP to be made. Another evidence-based clinical intervention is a pregnancy test though carrying out a urine pregnancy test to determine whether Kamala is pregnant.
Treatment alliance is majorly affected by various factors such as language, trauma, language, and sociocultural identity. To form a good treatment alliance requires the full participation of the client. In the case of Kamala, to establish a positive therapeutic alliance, it is essential that the counseling process needs to address effectively linguistic differences, varying cultural practices.
The aspect of transference and countertransference are important since it helps the client to share her past experience. For instance, in transference, the client places unrealistic demands on you, or the client admires you and tells you how much you remind them of their best friend. In the case of countertransference, A clinician inappropriately discloses personal experiences during the session. This helps the client to develop trust in the therapist.
Physical and space dynamic are important because it helps therapists to hold on his roles hence allowing their clients to work through projected aspects of their traumatic experiences.
Assessment of suicidal and homicidal ideation is important because most former sexual abused victims find it had to adapt to the new environment, majorly the migrants. Most of the ex-traffickers identity is formed during their enslaved hence adjusting to life after rescue is hard hence may opt for suicide.
