The setting of the book, Golden eyed by Ray Bradbury.

The story in the book is done on Mars, a planet next to Earth. It happened on May 7th, 1984.

Why do the Bitterings settle on mars?

The Bitterings settled on mars since they wanted to explore another life beyond Earth since the father admits that more people would leave Earth for mass just like he did in a few years.

Cause of people from Earth being stranded on Mars

People are stranded on Mars because most of the rockets have blown up.

Changes Harry first notices in the world around him.

He noticed that his wife seemed to swirl away in smoke, and his children looked like small seeds that could be blown away by the wind at any time.

Findings the rescue team found after every five years.

The rescue team found after every five years, and a plague had hit the town, and people would die.

The representation of the blowing wind

The blowing wind represents a series of problems humans face because the story brings an idea of desperation by Hurry’s family.

The author indicates change.

Change is indicated when the father notices a drastic change in the physical appearance of his family.

What happened to the original colonists?

The original colonists succumbed to pressure on mars. They died and later came back as Martians.

Part two: Listening

Here the narrator of the story is speaking. He tells the story in a well-organized manner. He speaks about life on the planet Mars. He gives this story as if he is in a theatre.

The speakers who are not in the original text are Hurry, the head of the family from Earth and the guy speaking in Martian. They bring a sense of diversity when they join the narrator is telling the story.

The bombs on Earth in the radio play were the cause of humans trying to flee from Earth to Mars. This information was not included to leave a sense of suspense. When the Bitterings relocate to the villa, we note a change in the setting of the story. It is necessary since it shows how the story’s setting has changed or relocated to another place.

Similarities and differences of the radio play and written text

In both, the setting of the play starts on planet Mars and involve human characters. The difference is that some details are omitted in the written text, while in the radio play, some details are added, making the story much complete.
