The rituals performed by the communities in Hong Kong

I moved to Hong Kong for studies on why I was attracted by the fact that education was free and compulsory; therefore, literacy levels are low. This helped me learn the rituals of some communities, in my case, Nacirema, in North America, on how they carried out their daily activities and believes in enhancing their living standards. The ritual of fascinating through the mouth prevented their teeth and jaws from felling off. (Miner, 1956). The person with a decaying hole in the mouth would seek a holy-mouth-man to help open the gaps that might have been created by the decay. Mouth ritual was believed to determine the relationship of the community members with their friends. It was perceived that if the practice were not done, the community would be isolated from the rest of the region’s cities. In the community, there were abstinence rituals that helped keep the community pure from calamities that may attack them as a result of sex abuse. Sex was supposed to be marked as a secret because anybody exposing sexual activities brought impunity to the entire community.

The rituals performed by the communities in Hong Kong differ from habits in my society since jaws and teeth in my neighborhood are not affected by the failure of carrying out mouth fascination. The people involved are taken to the shrine for healing to endure; the shrines’ community elders cleanse them. The elders may slaughter animals in the shrine and sprinkle the blood around the shrine walls to aid the healing of the affected individuals. (Miner, 1956).

Outsiders from my culture would find the rituals and beliefs as strange, depending on their cultural traditions. For instance, the occurrence of a harmful incidence in some communities is believed to be a curse due to the failure of carrying out mouth fascination or refraining from sexual activities. Intruders will perceive our ritual rights to be strange when they learn that only a few individuals affected by the incidence enter the shrine for cleansing by the shrine owners. The rituals are performed in specific hours of a day that seem strange to non-community members. The proceedings that occur during the performance of the way may also confuse intruders who are not used to the community culture. (Bsnanda, 2011), The belief in our community where it is a must to shed slaughter an animal for bloodshed is not common to other organizations, which contradicts the rituals performed.

I would help an intruder understand our community rituals by carrying out activities that help them interact and mingle with the rest of the community members. This helps them learn widely the cultural practices of the community to help them understand the existing rituals. (Miner, 1956). It is also good to attend a ritual performance activity to learn the procedures that occur before the practice is completed. The intruder will also be allowed to ask questions about the community’s rituals and maintain respect for them. Interaction of communities helps in learning rituals that are performed in different cities when incidences occur.
