The need for nursing research has widened since it improves clinical expertise and personal knowledge. Also, it is used in implementing changes that provide nursing care excellence. It aids in the implementation of best practices in nursing (Curtis et al., 2017). For example, nurses can use nursing research to address various changes, such as increased mortality rate in children under the age of 5.

Research is a crucial element that nurses ought to understand to advance their profession, stay updated, and provide quality patient care. Therefore, nurses are required to know about distinct classes of research. For instance, evidence-based research is used to determine the quality and safety of the patient, such as infection prevention and control. Remarkably, having an idea of what basic principles of analysis are enhances the nurse’s ability to evaluate and apply EBR in their practice.

The course is essential as it helps the learners to understand better on utilization and benefits of nursing research. Besides, the nursing research will help the students to be knowledgeable on the principles of various researches that they need to incorporate in the nursing profession.

Assessment of data and comparing various measures used in the study under review refers to quantitative technique. Some of the quantitative methods of evidence evaluation involve mean or average, standard deviations, and other statistical parameters (Squires & Dorsen, 2018). Besides, the qualitative criterion uses a formal tool for predicting, which ensure the objectivity of the finding the applied variables.

Experimental quantitative design is one of the quantitative designed I have learned in this course. Measuring subjects twice have helped me understand it more. Notably, before the study or treatment, the subjects are evaluated.

Quantitative research technique help enhances the generation of knowledge and facilitates understanding regarding the social world. Remarkably, a phenomenon affecting the people can be noted using qualitative research. Independent and dependent relationship is determined by carrying out quantitative research. Therefore, it is crucial in nursing practice due to its importance in generating factual and reliable result information. Also, it serves as an insight into nursing practice issues For instance; nursing practices associated with quality dimensions can be evaluated using quantitative research.

Qualitative research technique focuses on understanding, describing, and interpreting social occurrence, which involves beliefs, surroundings, opinions, and feeling (Raimo, 2018). It does not apply the use of measurable parameters such as it applicable in the quantitative method. Therefore, the qualitative technique evaluates the relevance of the study, interpretation, and utilizing of emphatic comprehensions, which means the variables and findings are dependent on the research study’s framework.

Grounded theory is one type of research that I have learned in this course. The characteristic that helps me to understand it better involves allowing data to emerge from the data collected. It uses a systematic and flexible technique to collect data, code it, make relation and observe the developed theories.

Qualitative research is used to explore the systems, social processes and interactions. Also, it significant in comprehending how the people come to act manages, and recognizes their daily situation in particular places.

Sampling refers to taking a group of items, objects from a large population to represent it in measurement (Esperon, 2017). The findings generated from the Sample represent the general population. It is crucial since it enables collection and analysis of data. Also, it is useful because it allows concluding complex situations.

I came to learn about random sampling in quantitative research. When using random sampling, all the individuals have an equal chance of being selected to participate in a study. I learned that quantitative research focusing on general population should use random sampling technique.

Another strategy that I learned s stratified sampling. Outstandingly, the strategy involves using the specific target group to represent the groups or the categories. For instance, a study that is focusing on religions will group their participants based on their religions.

Research help the nurses to determine the most effective and efficient course of action that is appropriate and safe to patient care (Grove & Gray, 2018). For example, the nurse can carry out research regarding treatments or the drugs that are of use to a particular patient.

Also, nurses should have knowledge regarding principles of nursing research. The nursing practice will not improve if little or no research, therefore, adequate research is essential.
