Strawberry and Chocolate
Introduction

When Diego met David at Havana ice cream parlor, the two had very little in common, ranging from the ice cream they choose at the shop. Diego chose strawberry while David chose chocolate. In the begging, David had no idea of Diego’s intention when they met at the ice cream shop. However, Diego invites David to his apartment, promising him to autograph for him the Mario novel. Upon reaching into the apartment, Diego intentionally spills coffee on David’s shirt, knowing that such a trick would allow romance to develop between them.
The failure of Diego’s plans results in the two developing friendship and agree to work together in any way. David and Diego’s close relationship resulted in the two having common opinions on communism’s genuinely revolutionary and sexuality. The common interest developed in the course of interaction resulted in David becoming much closer to Diego to learn more about communism and sexuality. To attract Diego, David buys him flowers, posts up Marxist icons in his room, and allows him manuscripts. The change of events creates confusion as David intends to show affection to Diego when the two had agreed to remain friends without any form of love.
As the film proceeds, David realizes that Diego is far more intellectual and revolutionary than he expected. As a scholar, he learned more about the Cuban culture, making him an ideal person in propelling the revolution agenda among society. As a character in the film, he takes risks. Diego clearly understands that homosexuality is prohibited but goes on to advocate for a revolution in society. On the contrary, David does his things in a hidden manner, when he suspects the family spotted him with Diego in the car, and he feels humiliated and wanted to disappear. However, Diego does not get interrupted by what people say about him; he speaks his mind, including his character. His brave nature persuades him to express himself boldly for society’s right, not necessarily as a dictated revolution. The act makes him a more independent thinker who believes in his words. Diego accepts all people irrespective of their diversity in beliefs. Despite being a revolutionist, he acknowledges all people despite their revolution stand. For instance, it was clear that Diego and David had a distinct personality in the initial stage in many ways. At the ice cream shop, the two had a different preference for the ice cream. Additionally, Diego embraced homosexual practice justified by luring David to his apartment to lure David into the sexual act, which David rejected. However, as the film continues, David develops feelings towards Diego.
Consequently, in the beginning, Diego seems to pay less attention to the revolution. Nevertheless, David comes to learn that Diego equally had a revolution ambition to achieve.
