Followership coincides with servant leadership in some instances but also varies in some way. The purpose of this essay is to contrast and compare followership and servant leadership.

A good ‘servant leader’ practices empathy to comprehend other peer’s ideas alternated with their own. A ‘servant leader’ is comprised of features like awareness, foresight, healing, persuasion, community building, stewardship, conceptualization, and commitment to the development of individuals.

Followership is the willingness and capacity to follow a leader. A person’s understanding of followership defines whether the result is excellent or good. A good follower must be ready to obey the leader. Also, he/she should give ideas to the leader to add to the experience of a circumstance. They create trust with the leaders and among themselves.

Followership and servant leadership also comprise of similarities. Irrespective of being a follower or a servant leader, one has to be loyal, respectful, and perform their duties to those below or above you. This not only improves the interpersonal relationship between peers but also advances the company as a whole. Followership and servant leadership must coexist as each relies on the other for an effective operation.

In conclusion, followership and servant leadership share some similarities and differences. They are interconnected and dependent on one another. For example, they both exercise respect and perform duties to those below or above them. Conversely, with ‘servant leadership,’ trust and patience are the main characteristics, while in followership, discipline and obedience are key. Great ‘servant leaders’ direct ‘followers’ to being significant future leaders.
