Self-Reflective Essay
It is important for contemporary and future leaders to reflect on the past engagements and analyze the progress made and what ought to be improved. Analyzing the success made and the failures made helps to make predictions on the future activities of the organization. Self- reflection works to gauge personal achievements and failures made in organizational leadership. It is used as a benchmark for future expansion plans and evaluation of the organization activities (Crossan, Mazutis, Seijts & Gandz, 2013). Reflection on ones’ activities and schedules work to keep a functional track of the things that need to be prioritized and what needs adjustments.
Reflection on the past activities on one’s encounters helps to build bases for self-correction and programming into the future. One is able to determine personal strengths and capitalize on them for prosperity and personal growth. Reflection on the past in the current organizational leadership helps to incorporate positive organizational culture that is essential for growth (Crossan et al., 2013). It helps to create a conducive working environment through self-correction measures as a result of self-evaluation.
Toyota Press Release
I analyzed the Toyota press release to establish the prevailing marketing strategy surrounding the Toyota Company. The company is currently enjoying huge marginal returns as a result of improved and sustainable management strategies. The marketing strategy of Toyota is at its peak allowing the company to post huge profits and positive social corporate responsibility measures (Crossan et al., 2013). The analysis of the Toyota release provided insights for me to provide an advisory statement to the management of my organization. The Toyota management has functional management that can be emulated by the contemporary organizational leaders.
What I learnt About the Toyota Leadership Strategy
Integrity Character of Toyota leadership
Toyota leadership from the release has presented positive attributes in its existence and has created a positive working environment between the organizational employees and the people outside the organization. Integrity in leadership ensures that their followers embrace organizational leaders. Integrity describes a trait in a leader which helps the leader to remain firm and robust in the decisions they make (Crossan et al., 2013). Integrity helps leaders to uphold high moral values in the organization and societal life. Integral leaders will remain reasonable and upright regarding the decisions they make on the challenging issues to organizational leadership.
Responsibility
Toyota Leadership takes the mental accountability of all the actions of the employees at the organizations. The Toyota leader takes care of all the employees’ demands through a keen analysis of the employee’s weakness and strengths. Toyota leadership is solely responsible for the corporate process accruing as a result of the decision they impose regarding marketing and advertisement (Crossan et al., 2013).
Toyota Compassionate Attribute
Toyota leadership is compassionate about functional corporate culture attached to personal attributes and experience. The leadership has a passion for working with some experienced employees that are capable of adapting to the changing market environment. Compassionate leadership shows sympathy and consciousness of issues affecting the employees and works to find solutions to the issues (Crossan et al., 2013). Toyota leadership has extended its helping hand to many of their employees at the workplace in times of need.
Attribute of Forgiveness
Forgiveness has proved to be a workable organizational culture for the Toyota Corporation. Forgiveness helps to create a moral and mutual understanding between the leadership and the workforce. People are faced by various problems in the daily lives forcing them to succumb into mistakes (Crossan et al., 2013). Evaluation of the causal agents to these mistakes and giving a second chance to the wrongdoer provides serene working atmospheres.
My recommendations
I went ahead to write a comprehensive report on my findings from the Toyota press release and proceeded to write a recommendation to my classmates and the supervisor. I represented my findings to my classmates during the class discussion as well as to the supervisor. The report received positive comments and impressed both the supervisor and my colleagues. The recommendation report provides leadership insights to the current entrepreneurs geared towards running sustainable and profitable organizations.
The report was well informed and in the right style and language that is easy to understand by ordinary readers. The report served as an indication of the understanding of the classwork and resources provided by the supervisor. The comments provided by the supervisors and my classmates helped me to make corrections on my understanding of the Toyota leadership and management style. The insights provided by my classmates and supervisors have opened up my understanding of the current leadership styles that have been successful.
Report on the China Hotel Joint Venture
The world’s successful entrepreneurs identify market gaps and unexplored opportunities and swing to tap the opportunities to make profits and serve clients. Entrepreneurship in the current market is working to provide an opportunity for self-employment to the many educated youths in different parts of the globe (Crossan et al., 2013). Identification of the available needs by society and striving to satisfy them while earning profits motivates entrepreneurs to create business ventures.
Many organizations and business start-ups are migrating to China benefit from booming business opportunities. Raw materials and cheap labor are readily available in the Chinese economy. There is an influx of many people in the Chinese market to take advantage of the booming business and reap from the opportunity. People from different parts of the world are taking part in the international trade thus causing diversities in the needs of the different people (Crossan et al., 2013). Starting a hotel venture in the Chinese market will help the visitors and business find places where they can enjoy a meal that is familiar in their cultures and regions.
People from different parts are used for different types of meals and accommodation needs. The hotel business will work to seal the market gap in the Chinese economy. The report on the Chinese hotel business venture has opened up my thoughts and knowledge on entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs take risks and convert them to opportunities that are translated into profits. Entrepreneurs have turned out to be the most successful people in the world thus a need to review the topic to enhance my business investment skills.
What I learnt from The Chinese Hotel Venture
Researching through the many issues affecting the current markets structures and marketing strategies have improved my way of understanding some occurrences in the modern world. My foundations in business administrations have enriched my knowledge on how to evaluate the different business issues affecting the current marketing environments. Organizational leadership plays a central role in the management and the success of business corporates in many parts of the world. My ability to analyze the various leadership and management approaches by different organizational leaders has enhanced my leadership creativity and understanding of what is required to emerge as a successful leader in the business world
Sales Pitch
Risk taking is important for any new market entry. The certainty about the future state of the current market is not known, but an entrepreneur should carry the risk to engage in the unknown initiative. Pitching helped me to create a market product and present the idea to my classmates and supervisor (Crossan et al., 2013). I gained much from the guidance offered by the colleagues on the requirements for a new business start-up.
New business start-ups require adequate planning and evaluation to emerge with the most feasible model that will sail through the competitive market environments. My classmates helped me to conduct a pilot marketing strategy for the product designed by recording my projects and giving their valuable feedback on the entire process (Crossan et al., 2013). The comments from both the teacher and the students helped me to identify the gap in my initiative and prompted me to conduct more research on the right way to build business projects.
Personal Impacts
Reflections from the three activities have opened up my mind on what is required of the contemporary business leaders. The three task analysis has provided insights on what is required from a typical organizational leader. Thorough research is essential for any business start-up regarding the management and the entry procedures. Report writing skills are essential for organizational leaders engaging in organizations that value success. It is important to take note of the correct styles and language to utilize when writing reports ensuring that the intended information gets to the right audience in the most appropriate manner (Crossan et al., 2013). Early preparation for future organizational leaders should start at an early stage to allow familiarization with the leadership requirements.
