Changing decision making process interventions strategy- it aims to improve general school capacity. This strategy makes changes to school authority structure through implementations of interventions that focus on discipline and school management, behavior norms establishment, class management, and students regrouping, which are suitable in decreasing delinquency and other behaviors risks at schools. For instance, this intervention includes parents, staff, and students who develop teams to conduct assessment needs and leads the practice, leading to school improvement (Gottfredson, 2017). A vivid example of these interventions is establishing appropriate behavior norms through practices such as school ceremonies, newsletters, and posters containing information about drug avoidance and bullying refrain. Another category of school-based strategy prevention is the instructional methods strategy- this prevention strategy aims at classes’ management. It uses cooperative and experiential learning methods vital in students’ engagement improvement (Tolan, 2017). For instance, collaborative learning increases performance in academics and school bonding by utilizing management and organizational techniques to reduce school delinquency. Behavior change prevention strategy is also one of the school-based methods in preventing delinquency- this strategy aims to change the knowledge, behaviors, attitudes, skills, and even beliefs of students individually (Tolan, 2017). It involves training on stress management, life and resistance skills training, decision-making, and setting a goal that is done through cognitive-behavioral programs. For instance, good behavior token system in school aims at behavior-related goals implementation, behavior tracking, and often coupled feedback through external reinforcers to behavior change, which is vital in the decrement of delinquency in schools.
The school employs a prevention strategy that aims at behavior change, skills, knowledge, attitudes, and students’ beliefs individually. The school recommended this strategy as it brings changes to an individual student by disseminating information and the training on decision-making, setting goals, and life skills education, which teaches students techniques in thinking, which involves behavior demonstration and display of new skills.
