Scholarship Statement of Purpose for Admission to the MBA Program at Northeastern University
When writing a statement of purpose, it is easy to get carried away by the urge to impress the reader or beg as if you are asking for a favour. I have tried to be objective or honest about my education, achievements, career plans, and future goals in my arguments in the pursuit of the scholarship for the MBA program at Northeastern University.
I decided to study the MBA program at Northeastern University because the quality of education and management courses are well renowned and recognized globally. Enrolling for the program in this university would offer me opportunities to get a broad perspective and ideologies behind successful entrepreneurship (Northeastern University, n.d). Thus, I will enjoy the privilege of acquiring the best education and management studies.
Besides, studying in this university will grant me the experience of education in different countries as I will get to interact and explore with many students of different nations or backgrounds while at the same time remaining within the University system. The idea of interacting with new students at a higher level of study will allow me to borrow heavily how they carry out business activities/leadership.
I had passed in my undergrad, a qualifying examination to join an MBA program at Northeastern University. Despite attaining weak points during the undergrad, I overcame the low score with a GPA of 3.7 out of 4 in MS. This is evidence that I have it in me to study and score well. Besides, I am an active member of Entrepreneur cub in the university and working with one of my venture financing professors on my business idea of 3D knitting apparel for faster delivery and distribution to consumers.
As such, learning other subjects of MBA, I will be in a far superior position to launch a successful company within the university. With that in mind, giving me a full scholarship will help me focus more on the business and entrepreneurial aspects by using the resources and learning materials within the university, thereby benefiting the university. I have a strong belief that I can work extra harder than ever to attain my career plans and future goals.
I grew up in a family where my father was a renowned business person. I witnessed him run up and down to assemble the necessary permits to ensure that his business was thriving. Of paramount importance to note is that my father’s efforts as an entrepreneur helped the society because many people were able to access better education, healthcare, and business opportunities. Initially, my father struggled a lot, and he moved from one city to another, village to the other, and place to place with the intention to establish a bus transportation business.
Through his struggles, I realized that one does not merely need the business idea to be successful but possesses the tactics to deal with influential brokers as well as follow or be compliant with the set rules and regulations. Besides, my father used to raise funds from other villagers and to secure loans from various institutions. His ideas on acquiring resources from different places left me with very many rhetorical questions. As a result, I understood that to become an entrepreneur successfully, they should know how to finance their business from different sources.
In the course of his business, my father developed some illness and was unable to jungle up with the management techniques and so his company went down when I was in my third year semester two. Being the only person with entrepreneurship skills and interests, I was going to help him with work. This hugely affected my studies, and the performance went down. This explains why I attained a low score despite the will to perform well.
As I helped my father with his business activities, it was revealed that I could be a good manager only if I acquire higher education and management skills. As I continued with my undergrad studies, I felt the need to one day own a company and give back to society because of the constant support for my father during the initial stages of his business.
Fundamentally, trade policies all over the world, including my country, change as a result of the expansion of business targets and markets. This gives me the urge to acquire more knowledge and skills of operating companies from all fronts, hence the wish to apply for this scholarship at Northeastern University (Northeastern University, n.d). In the event of financial burden during my MBA program, I feel that I will be willing to take the challenge and look for a job, something that will interfere with my education program.
I wish to take up increasing responsibilities of the managing and financial division in my company after my studies at the university so that it can compete in the world on the fronts of service delivery and quality products. Therefore, with the scholarship, I have a feeling that I can achieve wonders. All I need is more time at the university with professors and resources at my disposal.
I will be delighted to get the best education and managing skills in university that pledges democracy, humanity, and equity. I will be equally happy to bring back my acquired skills to run my company and sent me forth to my dreams and my career path. I assure you that I will not leave any stone unturned in acquiring the skills and knowledge needed while at the same time working within the university guidelines and requirements.
