A sampling frame refers to the database of all entities of a population of interest or a list from which a portion can be used to research (Rahi, 2017). In the study, the sampling frame will be a list of all the managers of Ruiru Feeds Ltd. This is because the managers are responsible for ensuring that the goals of the supply chain are being achieved and that the supply chain is well managed with the purpose of ensuring that they bring about efficiency and effectiveness (Stadtler, 2015). The supply chain is crucial for every organization as it enhances a smooth flow of products and services on a daily basis (Stadtler, 2015).
3.5. Sample and Sampling Technique
A sample in quantitative research methodology is a set of data i.e. a group of people, objects or items that are collected from a larger statistical population for measurement by a defined procedure (Brannen, 2017). A sampling technique is a scientific or statistical method of selecting sampling units that will offer requisite estimates with their associated margins of uncertainty (Rahi, 2017). This study will use the stratified sampling technique. This is a probability sampling technique whereby the researcher divides the entire population into different strata (Brannen, 2017). It was chosen for this study so as to ensure that the total population was well represented .
At a confidence level of 90%, the margin of error is 10% and to obtain a sample size that has an adequate size relative to the objectives of the study, the researchers adopted Yamane’s formula;
