Introduction

With the rise in technology and competition in the modern world, there has been a constant need for different organizations and entities to achieve organizational excellence. Organizational excellence would be the positive milestones achieved by various organizations towards the achievement of their set goals. Organization design is how the entity is made up to carry out different duties effectively. With other organizations having different approaches to plan, the ultimate goal is to achieve excellence. This paper, therefore, looks at some of the various organization design in the Pepperdine University and how it is structured to attain positive goals.

Question 1

Just like other different organizational culture, the University’s culture is enhanced to ensure an individual’s job is enriched and appreciated. The school’s administration in the recent past has tried to gift and reward various exceptional performers like the program administrator with a much better job that is also enriched. Through this initiative, it is evident that the organization values every employee and their wellbeing as well as career development chances and opportunities. It is also with no doubt that the administration of the University is very much severe and concerned with employee development. This was a change that was to be administered in the University. The University does not just reward every employee with opportunities out from nowhere. Just like any other organizations, these employees are mandated to ensure diligence in their work, hard work and determination would then lead to such promotional opportunities. The program administrator at the University is said to have worked on the premises for about fifteen years. This has proven the resilience and determination of the individual towards the betterment of the University. It was therefore very wise and diligent to award him this position. The culture of rewarding these positions is thus enriched on proving hard work and other virtues.

Question 2

Based on my understanding of the individual level diagnosing of different job designs, my evaluation of the critical components would be as follows.

Skill variety is a virtue that is much needed and welcomed at Pepperdine University. Being one of the critical features of achieving organizational success, the administration of the University has been seen to award those with proper skill variety like the program administrator who served diligently to acquire these skills.

Task identity would be a key and essential virtue that would help the University effectively select the correct qualified students for admissions and have proper processes to be followed.

Task significance would help an individual value his work and line of duty that in return, would help achieve organizational development.

Anatomy would help create a significance on the different processes at work to help achieve scrutiny that in return, would help boost the organizational performance.

Feedback from various ends would help the organization know whether they are on the right track or not.

Question 3

With different institutions and organizations having different job designs, an individual employee’s job design should be aligned or conformed to the organizational structure. A job design of an individual would guide him to do different duties effectively, in the right place and having the right timing. It would also be essential for the individual’s design to conform with that of the organization as this would put their targets and goals in the same line. The administrator in the University that served for fifteen years and counting before being promoted was reported to have shown effectiveness and resilience when it came to the effective handling of both interpersonal and organizational duties. The conformity of both the goals provided an essential landmark in ensuring success.

Conclusion

In conclusion, for a significant timing and proper achievement of different goals, it would be very right to have a formal organizational design that would help achieve set targets.
