Restaurants have become a crucial part for most people, as many people prefer eating out because it is more fun and exciting. Various factors have led to the restaurant industry’s growth, among them being better hospitality and the rising income levels of most people. Due to the rising use of restaurants by many people to hang out and enjoy various meals of their choice, restaurants are embracing growth. They are moving with the upcoming trends that are emerging in the restaurant industry. In the discussion below are some of the various trends in the restaurant industry in terms of marketing, service delivery, foods, new methods of employee training, new technologies, new equipment, and nutrition.

One of the main trends in the restaurant industry is technology. Recently, technologies have changed in terms of how customers order foods, make payments, and get served. The increased use of self-order kiosks and mobile apps offer customers the ease of ordering. Many restaurants currently increasingly adopting the options of self-desk services and mobile apps where customers can order and receive food deliveries at the comfort of their homes. Home deliveries are another rising trend in the restaurant industry and many restaurants, for example, McDonald’s, are embracing this trend by expanding their number of outlets that offer food delivery. In other words, this trend can be termed as a rise in online ordering (Alexander 2020).

When it comes to the type of foods offered in restaurants, many restaurants are increasing their focus on providing healthy foods to their customers. Many people are ordering healthier foods from restaurants, ensuring that they take a balanced diet package. Restaurant marketing trends are also changing rapidly due to technology changes, food choices changes, and consumer desires. Some of the restaurant industry’s marketing trends are the use of chatbots and restaurants being transparent in their services. Chatbot refers to a technology tool that many restaurants are using to market themselves by setting up an auto-response message. Restaurants are using this tool, especially on holiday seasons, when there are many inquiries about operating hours and reservations. A chatbot is used in such cases to leave a response about such questions, and any other frequently asked questions about the restaurant. Transparency in service delivery is another rising trend that organizations are using to market themselves. Transparency will make customers want to come back to a restaurant and even bring friends along (Martynenko 2020)

Effective and efficient foodservice and delivery is made possible by restaurants using up to date and advanced equipment. Some of the restaurant industry’s current significant equipment trends include; multitap water dispensers that allow a restaurant to make water profitable and offer water o their customers at various temperatures. Some dispensers also have various flavor shots. Another equipment trend is visually appealing and multi-functional cooking equipment that facilitates faster cooking and appeals to the customers. Restaurants are embracing various rising methods of training their workers. Such current methods include customizable training where a restaurant creates unique training courses and content specific to the front and back of house roles. Another method of training employees in the restaurant industry is microlearning content, where the training content is made easy for an employee to digest and put into practice easily.

In conclusion, from the discussion above, every restaurant should embrace the upcoming trends in the industry. Various trends that they should embrace include advanced technologies that make customer’s food ordering, payment, and service easier and home delivery and chatbot. A restaurant that embraces these new trends experiences a greater advantage because they will fully satisfy their customers. Satisfied customers will bring their friends and colleagues, therefore leading to a restaurant increasing their sales volume.
