Abstract

This is a research critique paper about the analysis of non-conformities associated with infections, prevention, and adverse occurrences within a medical setup. The research has an explicitly stated problem statement, which is to make an analysis of the non-conformities associated with the infections, prevention, and severe occurrences control in medical institutions. It employs the use of a literature review that clearly supports and responds to the study’s problem statement. The literature review used, however, was obtained from an article published more than five years ago; therefore, it wasn’t a recent or a new one. A conceptual framework was used for the study, where tables were used to represent hypothetical data. The research question was stated clearly, and appropriate research methods and research design were used. 45 pro-Hosp were selected as the study population, where 37 out of the total 45 gave permission for their reports to be used as secondary data. The collected data were analyzed by the SPSS software version 19.0.

Statement of the problem

For this research, the problem statement or the study purpose has been stated clearly and can be located. The study’s purpose is to make an analysis of the non-conformities associated with the infections, prevention, and severe occurrences control in medical institutions. Analysis of the existing non-conformities in a medical set up on prevention of infections and other adverse medical conditions is significant to nursing as problems related to infection control and treatment can be discovered. It is always easy for nurses and other medical practitioners to take care of their clients when they know where the problem is, how to deal with the problem, and hence quick recovery to the patient.

Literature review

The literature review is relevant to the problem statement of this study. It tends to take care of the problem statement. An action group was started to analyze the quality and performance of the medical institutions which take part in the Health Unic System Hospital Quality and Performance Program in Minas Gerais (Teodoro et al. 2016). It supports the problem statement by consolidating the focus of the medical institution through providing in health distribution areas, and medical regions, building public hospitals with the ability to function efficiently, offering quality services responsible for taking care of the patient needs being incorporated on the medical care networks.

The literature review is, however, is not recent. The literature was taken from a study conducted and evaluated in 2009. This literature gives a solid base for the study as it shows the interventions that will be out in place in order to take care of the medical conformities within hospitals. It also employed the use of sources such as the Health Unic System Hospitals Quality and Performance Program, Organização Nacional de Acreditação” (ONA) among others.

Conceptual/Theoretical Framework

The study makes use of a conceptual framework to represent ideas concerning the research in ways that can be better understood. It makes use of tables to represent different hospital groups that were under study (Teodoro et al. 2016). In his regard, it can be noted clearly that the hospitals displayed distinct characteristics, hence giving a big heterogeneity found in various areas from the country and responsible for providing services to the heterogeneous population. Through this conceptual framework, the major aspects of the study have clearly been identified in relation to the study’s statement of the problem.

Hypothesis(es) or research question(s)

The study has explicitly stated a research question that it attempts to answer. The research question is, which were infection management, prevention, and adverse occurrences related to the NC in pro-Hosp’s hospitals. This has been placed in relation to the theoretical framework since the prop-hospitals mentioned in the research question have been clearly represented in the conceptual framework (Teodoro et al. 2016). It has also been given with specification to the key variables of the research population, and these are the patients affected by adverse events, infection control, and prevention.

Research Method(s)

According to the study protocol used among the five groups of the study participants selected, methods that minimized risk on the participants were considered. These methods included the standard presence and obeying, surveillance on the hospital epidemiological aspect, anti-microbial rational application, and employee vaccination management in the final group. However, the institutions responsible for ensuring participants’ safety were not consulted or at least not indicated.

Research Design

The approach used in this study corresponds to the study hypothesis. A crossectional research design was employed together with a quantitative approach (Teodoro et al. 2016). Here, secondary information was collected from 82.2% of the hospitals that authorized utilization of data, which later made the study sample.

Population and Sample

The study population was identified properly. In this study, 37 pro-Hosp were analyzed in 2009. Making part of the study population were the 45 Prop-Hosp medical institutions. Out of these 45, 37 gave permission for the research to utilize their data. This data obtained is what constituted the research sample that was used. This made the sample design used, therefore enhanced the research sample’s representativeness. 82.2 % of the sample design used was sufficient enough to give the required information.

Data Collection and Measurement

For this study, functional and theoretical definitions correspond with one another. The main research variables were operationalized by the use of appropriate techniques and with sufficient justification (Teodoro et al. 2016). The instruments used for the research were valid and reliable since accurate outcomes were obtained.

Data analysis.

The collected data was analyzed using the SPSS software version19.0. During the analysis, appropriate statistical techniques were utilized as the statistical information was well represented in table forms. This was successful since the number of groups used in making comparison were sufficient. At the same time, type 1 and type II errors were minimized.

Presentation of Findings/Implications

The study findings were appropriately summarized in the study. This is because findings were made in consideration to every individual group that was used (Teodoro et al. 2016). Each and every hypothesis were appropriately discussed in the research findings since they were presented in tables. The study limitation in the study, however, was that little hospitals were evaluated even though the state area comprehensiveness was extensive.

Conclusion

The organizational quality state is reflected by the non-conformity groups. This quality state becomes a necessity to handled along by the guideline, medical experts, and other professionals in the hospital, targeting to correct them so that the quality can be improved while evading risks and damages to the workers and clients. The research critique showed that the article took care of the major aspects of this research i.e., properly responding to the research question, making relevant research hypotheses, utilization of research design, and the research methods, among others.
