I agree with the statement that racism is the major cause of mental illness for the African American. Racism is a mental health issue because it contributes to 85% of African Americans’ mental health cases since it causes trauma. Every African American’s probability of suffering mental illness is 90% because they face discrimination every day in their daily life; for instance, people avoid them. They may suffer loneliness; at times, credit companies and banks may not lend them money or do at high rates; black children face discrimination in school, and at times, it’s usually difficult for African Americans to secure jobs (Dos Santos, Spesny & Galvaan, 2019). They suffer a number of stress that is financial stress and insight stress.
