Professional Development Plan
A professional development plan can be defined as a list of steps an individual follows to enhance achieving their career goals. Through professional development plans, individuals can specifically gain insight into how they can reach their career aspirations. Depending on my self-assessment outcomes, there were two weaknesses and two strengths of this organization. The determined weaknesses are relationship and communication management and finance management knowledge and business skills (Kreutzer & Pattloch, 2017). On the other hand, the strengths that were determined after an assessment was professionalism and leadership. As a manager to address the outcome assessment results, there would be a long-term and short-term goal setting that is timely, relevant, measurable, specific, and achievable.
To address the weakness of the organization in communication and relationship management, the manager would layout strategies for long and short-term goals to help bridge the gap and hence the remedy to communication and relationship management. They are setting up goals like promoting visual communication, embracing straight and transparency talks, listening actively and with empathy to employees, keeping the organization’s future in focus, and ensuring regular communication within an organization (Wheelen & Bamford, 2017). All these will help to address both short and long-term improvements in communication and relationship management within the organizations. On the other hand, to address the weakness in the business knowledge and skills, the manager will prioritize the financial management to be included in ongoing planning due to its sensitivity to an organization. The manager should ensure a clear business plan to enhance the monitoring of financial issues and positions. The goals should ensure the customers pay on time, meet tax deadlines, control stock, control overhead, be more efficient, solve problems when they arise, and ensure proper accounting records to enhance long and short-term goal achievements.
Leadership is an essential part of an organization and through the determination of leadership skills to enhance career goals (Wheelen & Bamford, 2017). Through leadership style discovery, identifying the leadership weakness and strength, practicing patience, leadership roles embracement, setting realistic development goals, and supporting other leaders are the goals the manager should embrace to enhance good leadership. Professionalism is known to be the conduct, attitude, and behavior of someone in a business environment. The goals that will ensure proper professionalism are embracing taking the initiative, being productive, efficient time management, being a problem solver, communicating effectively, being resilient, building a relationship, and demonstrating integrity to enhance professionalism.
