Imagine having such a great job that you cannot wait to get out of your bed in the morning! We all have our dream job. It is always paramount to love what you are doing because you will be busy with it most of the time. The thinking that your career may remain the same up to the end of your life may be somehow frightening. That is why some people opt to change their careers often. But my viewpoint is that before taking a particular career path, you should be sure of it. Career is a responsibility. My dream is to be a project manager at Google. The career path in project management is not usually a smooth one. If you ask one of the people who work as project managers how they came to be in their current field today, they would tell you that it was circumstantial. They were in the right place at the right time when a vacancy for a project manager popped out, and nobody else in the company was available for the job. Loufrani-Fedida & Missonier (2015) assert that project management has attracted a significant number of applicants, and a great number of young people have taken a degree in the field. Project managers keep things running in almost every organization, ranging from small non-profit organizations, growing start-ups, and giant corporations like Google. In my speech today, I will persuade you that I would be the perfect candidate for hire as a project manager at Google.

The position of a project manager comes with a lot of responsibilities. It requires someone who enjoys all that is related to hands in managing and delivering a project. Some of the responsibilities of a project manager include: developing the project plan, tracking the progress of the project, and managing the performance of the teams on project activities. The project manager also must report the project status and maintain communication with all project stakeholders. This responsibility also calls for the project manager to manage the project-related risks and sometimes try to escalate issues that cannot be solved within the team (Englund & Bucero, 2019). A project manager’s responsibility is to ensure that projects are delivered on time within scope and budget in a nutshell. Having taken you through a project manager’s responsibilities, I must confess that I have been interested in how projects are managed. Therefore this is the right job for me because it will give me personal satisfaction. Besides, I am interested in how products reach more customers through advertisements to generate more sales, promoting its name. It may seem tedious for some people, but for me, there is nothing better for someone who wants to work in a dynamic international company with a great team. Interacting with all kinds of customers and exploring new markets across borders is an exciting encounter that anybody would want to get involved in.

Google provides an ideal free working environment for its employees that promotes positive innovation making employees happy. This culture motivates employees to assume the responsibility of coming up with innovative products that bring success (Duhigg, 2016). The culture also promotes creative thinking among the employees, enabling them to use the opportunities they have both in the workplace and outside to develop innovative technologies. Google believes in the right leadership style that motivates employees and empowers them to invent new technological innovations. DuBois et al. (2015) explain that Google Company emphasizes freedom of independent thinking because it brings new ideas on board, leading to innovations. Google never dictates how new products should be generated. Most of the new products generated at Google arise from employees’ empowerment and the freedom they are given to use their ideas and innovative strategies to invent them. This kind of team is the best to work with because it will allow me to put my ideas into something that can positively change the company’s reputation and even impact the whole world. With the freedom to think independently, I will be able to team up with other employees who share similar ideas and coordinate the ideas to develop innovations for the company.

To accomplish my responsibilities as a project manager at Google, I will apply my characteristics and experiences that make me a suitable candidate for this position. Becoming a project manager, particularly to a giant company like Google, is not easy, but I believe it is worth it. Bucero & PMP (2014) agree that one must possess certain qualities and skills which I already have. I am a social, patient, and organized person with leadership skills. I socialize easily with people, and this will enable me to make friends very fast. I also have outstanding patience and can tolerate my employees. My good communication skills and empathy will also help me understand my employees’ different perspectives harnessing their expertise to better the project while accommodating their workload and priorities. My work organization skills will enable me to keep track of the project’s details, ensuring that nothing falls off the trail as advocated by (Too & Weaver, 2014). As a project manager, my most significant responsibility will be to lead others in the direction required to achieve the project’s goals, which will be possible because I have a strong leadership personality. Soon I will be graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in project management. Besides, I have studied different languages and hope this will be a bonus since Google is a company that has expanded its market to many countries. As such, I will be required to communicate with people from different countries whose language is diverse. All these qualities will help me build a rapport between Google Company and its clients and employees to achieve its goals, and its reputation is uplifted above the current standard.

As you have learned in my speech, an accomplished project manager in the Google industry should be someone who can compete with time and ensure that projects are delivered within the budget scope. Additionally, he/she should possess outstanding soft skills like leadership skills, patience, communication skills, and empathy, among others, in addition to the hard skills. I feel that I have demonstrated convincingly in my speech that I possess the necessary characteristics and experiences required in this position. While I understand that working in a big company like Google comes with some challenges like pressure to meet deadlines and long working hours, I am also aware that there are many advantages of holding such a role. If I get employed in Google Company as a project manager, I will be doing what I love the most, and this will give my life a purpose, meaning, and a sense of satisfaction.
