When personality tests are used in evaluating the right candidates for hire, this could help eliminate the chances of unconscious bias as the hiring manager has real-life examples to guide in their decision making rather than the unconscious feeling taking control. More so, they can help eliminate the unqualified employees, saving you time and money . in the end; you find the right person fit for the new role. Additionally, the personality tests will help you test what people can do in various situations, thus giving you a clear perspective on their past experiences. Most people can’t fake responses. Importantly, through these tests, the hiring manager can identify how employees can be integrated into the team. It can help determine what candidates and personalities can help fill the company culture gaps. For example, when hiring, the coca-cola company can carry out personality traits, thus identifying the best clients basing on their capabilities and their past experiences on how they can handle situations, thus making the right hires.

 

Despite there being plentiful benefits of personality tests, there also exist some disadvantages. Tests can be discriminating against themselves. At times, how comfortable candidates will feel taking personality tests could affect their answering, leading to false results, thus hiring the inappropriate candidates. More so, applicants could answer questions regarding the way they think the company needs rather than how they actually would answer, leading to false results .more so, this could not be the final testimony of someone’s character, thus leading to the wrong hires. The other con of using a personality test is that it fails to sum up an individual as a whole. People are involved, and it takes more than a test or a few tests to understand what they would be like to work with. For example, when the hiring is done regarding personality traits, someone could fail to express themselves as they could do physically, or they could respond according to the way the company needs. In the long run, this could bring about wrong hires and reduce the overall firm’s productivity.
