I chose to write my final project in word after conducting the necessary research on my topic. My topic has a cause-effect aspect to it. Therefore, I needed to explain the cause and show outright how it has produced the said effects. I, therefore, also chose an essay as the genre of my final project because it provides me with the required space to present my argument.
One of the challenges of writing an essay is that the argument has to be supported by evidence from existing research. Given that I will be writing about COVID-19 the same year that it occurs, I will experience some limitations in finding appropriate sources for my essay. Another challenge is that I will need to base my argument on the current situation. The impacts of COVID-19 on Americans’ mental health have not yet been fully determined at the long-term level. Therefore, my argument and the evidence I use will be limited to the short-term impacts.
Still, I will find a way to overcome the aforementioned challenges. When finding relevant sources for my topic, I will look in every database for articles in scholarly journals. Also, given the swift pace at which scholars publish papers today, I believe it will be possible to find adequate sources. To cover the issue of the largely-short-term impacts of COVID-19 on Americans’ mental health, I intend to include limitations in my paper.
One of the strengths of my choices is that they will enable me to provide a compelling argument. In addition to this, I will be taking part in research, which will be further studied and extended in the future. Through my final project, I will have gained mastery in writing by presenting an argument and supporting it with existing evidence. I will also have gained mastery by creating a basis for further research.
