Osteoarthritis
Mr. F’s case situation is a clear manifestation of osteoarthritis (a medical musculoskeletal condition that interferes with bones). Osteoarthritis is a serious complication that requires an individual to seek urgent and specialized medical care. Osteoarthritis leads to degradation of the cartilage and develops defects to the underlying bone, making your feet hard, as for the case of Mr. F. It is also associated with other complications such as pain, stiffness, and swelling of the individual joints making one’s life hard. Cartilage covers the end of the bones, thus providing a smooth surface, which reduces internal friction. When the bones have less cartilage, the patient, as seen in the case of Mr. F will develop, stiffness, case of inflammation, and loss of flexibility. Mr. F stopped exercising due to family responsibilities, and this worsened the situation. This is a clear indicator that being physically fit is one way of preventing and management of Osteoarthritis.
Prescription of analgesics and inflammatory drugs will be of great help for Mr. F. These drugs are known to reduce pain and swelling on the affected cartilage. Moderate, non-weight-bearing exercise is necessary for curbing weight that could worsen his situation. People suffering from Osteoarthritis are advised to engage in physical fitness exercises to reduce pain and other complications emanating.
There is no probable prognosis (treatment and recovery) of Osteoarthritis. Mr. F should stick to the best health practices such as management of weight, use of analgesics, and inflammatory drugs as per his healthcare professional’s advice. This will enable him to stay healthy.
