In nursing practice, leadership is a pertinent portion that helps make nurses work as a team to solve issues related to medicine and improve nursing’s overall outcomes. In my research, I will focus on the transformational leadership style, which is the most effective in health care. This is because it aims to achieve a collective goal instead of many individual goals and transform both managers and other workers. It is the most effective and efficient in pursuing higher collective objectives or achieving broad and fundamental organizational change.

The article argues that due to nurses’ current global shortage, there has been increased misdistribution of the health workforce, which has raised health care costs and expanded workload. The relevance of this article to my research

This is a very basic article in my research because it will offer me credible information regarding how a nurse’s manager’s leadership styles affect the staff’s job satisfaction and retention. It will discuss different ways in which the kind of leadership form adopted by the managers impacts the day to day activities of the health care institution and give the best form of leadership that should be upheld in the nursing setting. It will offer me also information about how leadership styles can respond to the global pandemic of nurses’ shortage. There are some leadership styles, such as the transformational leadership styles, which are best in responding to some issues encountered in the field of nursing.

Some leadership styles help retain employees; they increase the satisfaction of a job to the staff and reduce the costs incurred in delivering the services in most health care institutions. This means the style of leadership applied by the managers can be very important in nursing institutions. Therefore, the article concludes that the leadership style in health care has its specific impacts on staff satisfaction, turnover of employees, and the patient care service delivery quality.

The relevance of the article to my research

This article is crucial for it will help me explore how the managers’ leadership style can impact employee turnover, staff job satisfaction, and the quality of services under different leadership styles. It will also help me understand why the transformational leadership style is best suitable for a nursing or healthcare setting. It will help me discuss why the transformational form of leadership poses a couple of benefits to the institution where the managers chose to uphold it.

This article talks about the current rapid changes facing the healthcare setting and elaboration on how managers deserve knowledge on the best leadership styles. There have been a lot of changes in the healthcare settings in terms of the kind of leadership styles that are being applied by the managers to run the institutions. Thus, this article aims to understand those changes and analyze the positive changes and negative changes attributed to different leadership models. This article also suggests that those leaders who understand their leadership styles and their impacts on health care must be ready to adopt any other leadership style, which may be more effective. Therefore, this article studies the different leadership types and how the employees of different health care perceive them. Generally, every leadership style is associated with a particular culture and perceptions which vary among the employees. It explores the distinct of self-rating and other ratings of styles of leading and how they relate with perceived styles of leading nurses. This means that this article studies how different leadership styles are rated by employees and how external people also view them.

The relevance of the article to the research

This article is crucial as it will help me understand how different healthcare employees may perceive the different leadership styles applied by their managers. Again, this article will also help me understand the relevance of health care managers adopting other leadership styles other than those they own. This is because some of the leadership styles applied by some managers pose a great threat to the health care institution. For instance, some leaders apply an autocratic form of leadership, which is usually not very effective in leading most employees.
