My SDSU Application
Question 1
I am from Syria, and my family can be classified as middle-class. I have not been brought up in a wealthy family, but I usually get money to cater to basic needs like education, food, clothing, and medical services. Nevertheless, this does not mean that I do not have some financial challenges. As a student, I do not have a full-time job, which makes me depend on my parents for the college upkeep. The scarcity of money is one of the most significant challenges that I encounter because my needs are always above the budget line. For this reason, I’m forced to forego some of the things that are not very important to me.
Question 2
I want to attend college to achieve my career goal, acquiring a degree in Biology major. I want to be a physician assistant and to achieve this goal, and I must join college. I want to be different from other community members who are less fortunate as they did not get a chance to study. Further, I want to complete my studies and go back to help my community with acquired knowledge. What motivated me most is that my cousin has already achieved her bachelor’s degree, and she is still very young. She usually advises me on various matters, and she keeps reminding me that “education is the key to success.”
Question 3
My high school grades mirror the endeavors I have put into a school for most of the time. This is except for my sophomore year, whereby my performance on Algebra 2 was relatively poor; this was attributed to the fact that I had some issues with the teacher and my family. In the successive year, I embraced the tutoring sessions during the evening or morning hours after retaking the subject. When I did the exam, I was able to pass with at least a B grade. My grades mirror my academic potential because I am better in some areas than others. The high school grades are important because they show my strengths and weaknesses in the academic realms.
Question 4
The other fact that should be considered is that I attended a high school that is poorly performing because of the numerous challenges that both the educators and the students face. For instance, the counselor in this college cannot all the students because they are many. The other issue is that there was a shortage of teachers; therefore, effective learning was virtually not present. Further, I have some challenges back at home because my parents are yet to be satisfied with the programs I want to join. Therefore, I am one of the few lucky students to score high marks, and my family is not wealthy enough to take me to any college I want.
