These are terms usually derived from Greek words that represent body parts, body processes, physiological processes, and components of the body. The terminologies are formed by adding prefixes and suffixes to root names to associate them with the part of the body or processes. These terminologies are universal and therefore they are used by doctors across the globe. Examples of the word parts used to form medical terminologies are; (derm-melan-hidr-crin-therm). Derm is a term that mean the skin and all terminologies formed from this name are associated with the skin. Melan is a term used to mean dark pigment responsible for skin pigmentation and the eye color. Hidr is a term used to form terms associated with sweat. Crin is a word part used to form terms that are associated with secretion. Therm means heat and can be used to form terms that are associated with heat.
