Medical terminologies
In the medical field, terms have been developed to represent the body component, body cellular processes, procedures, and diagnostic procedures. These medical terms are formed by combining a root word with a suffix or prefix. The suffix or the prefix is derived from Greek words while the root word is an English word. These terminologies are important because they bring uniformity all over the world and make the medical communication process easy. The following are an example of the word used to form medical terminology; derm–melan–hidr– crin–therm. Derm is a Greek term that represents the skin, melan, represents black pigment found in the skin, hidr means sweat and therm means hot.

- The epidermis is the outmost layer of the skin that has sweat pores, hairs, and is made up of a tough keratin layer.

Cephal suffix or prefix is and to the root word to form word that relates to the head. Psych is used to form terms associated with the mind. Spin is a term that means thorns or spine or thorn and ot.
- The meninges is a tough membrane that encloses the brain and the spina cord which is made up of three-layer.
- Cephalodynia is characterized by pain in the head or the brain caused by the common cold or other serious illnesses that are life-threatening.
- Psychosis involves the information processing of the brain which is not an illness but a symptom.
- The canal found in the spinal cord is filled with cerebral spinal fluid that is used to nourish the nerves.
- Otosclerosis is characterized by spongy bone in the ear that replaces the otic capsules of the labyrinth.
