Lessons Learnt From Failure
Failure is an inevitable process for success. It teaches us invaluable lessons. Like many people, I have also experienced it. First, it was while I was in high school and got caught up with a lousy company. We focused more on having fun and did not care about our studies, which led to failing my tests. During my last year, one of my teachers, Mrs. Peterson, intervened by calling my parents, which helped me change. My parents’ look of disappointment, especially after they struggled to put me through school, influenced my shift. I worked hard, changed my friends, and focused on improving my grades. Eventually, my hard work helped improve my performance, and I managed to go to campus to study what I was passionate about, Accounting.
As life continues, failure is bound to continue to happen, and it is what we do that matters. In my new job, the marketing department brought in a new client, and I was part of the team to develop the proposal. As the accountant in the group, I was given the mandate to prepare the proposed budget. I gave it my all, as I wanted to make a good name from this opportunity. However, the client raised some queries about some of the items and requested a review. My manager was very disappointed, and I knew I still could improve, so I asked to be given a second chance to work on it not to lose the client. I booked an appointment with the client and got a better understanding of their expectations and wants. I set to work with a better understanding of their needs, and the client was impressed with the new changes.
Indeed, courage is the ability to learn from failures without losing enthusiasm. Everyone faces challenges, and through them, I have learned to focus, work hard, and learn from other people’s experiences. My recent failure taught me the importance of listening carefully to the client to understand their needs fully.
