Abstract
Technological advances have been on the rise over the past few decades, which has to lead to the birth of artificial intelligence technologies. Most careers are heading to automation technologies in normal operations, and shortly, businesses will be fully or partially automated. Due to this automation technology, several positions in an organization will be affected because, with new technologies, new strategic ideas and new ways of handling the technologies are required. Therefore, management and how AI issues are handled will require new skills that will be used to manage these technologies. Use of computers has increased the issue of cybersecurity. Cyber attacks can be fatal to organizations, and that require organizations to have strong and smart cybersecurity plans to secure their networks. In this paper, the main focus is on how technological advancements, which include artificial intelligence, have influenced leadership and management functions in organizations. The paper also looks at cybersecurity issues in an organization and its impact on modern management.
Artificial intelligence is on the rise, which holds an important place in the career path and plans. The world is ever-evolving technologically, which requires innovations and new ideas in performing business functions in organizations. Future career plans involve having a technologically open-mind which is ready to embrace new choices, decisions, and ideas. Artificial intelligence fits in career plans in that, management and leadership skills concerning AI technology are required to make the technology a success. Therefore, to efficiently prepare for this, embarking on some of the skills required for the successful management of the technology is of great essence. Some leadership skills, such as working successfully with teams, is learned through working with teammates. This has been successful by working with colleagues to learn the art of teamwork and being an important part of the team work.
Part 1: Identification of management issue related to AI
With artificial intelligence, changing of the management systems and adapting to the new technology as an organization is a challenge for the management. Since it is a new technology, it requires the whole organization, the management and the whole team which includes the employees and the society associated with the organization, to be on board and fully understand what AI is and what it intends to do in the organization. This becomes a potential challenge for any organization.
The above issue has its advantages and disadvantages to the management. The management is faced with the task of making the organization understand what AI is and what it intends to do. Therefore, any resources required is the responsibility of the management to provide, which can be a challenge based on the organization’s budget. Educating the whole team is important for the whole organization to ensure that it works together towards the achievement of the organizational goals. Therefore, ensuring that the whole team understands AI in the organization helps the management to have an easy time managing the organization’s operations.
Part 2: Reflection on self-assessment
AI is related to future career plans in that it requires leaders and manager who are ready to handle the challenges, efficiently and effectively handle the management of the technology. Based on self-assessment, teamwork and understanding the needs of the team players are essential skills that are required. Therefore, to become an efficient leader, working on the art of working with teams and understanding their needs is an area that I could do to efficiently prepare for becoming a better leader and manager to respond to the challenges that come with AI issues.
Cybersecurity has an impact on management since it influences the decisions the management makes and the resources that the management provides for the organization. It is an effort of each individual through the measures and decisions made by the management to ensure that an organization withstands cyber threats and overcomes them.
Part 1: Identification of management issue related to cybersecurity
Though cybersecurity is essential in an organization, there are major challenges that face management when it comes to cybersecurity. Identification of the crucial information that requires security and the impact of threats on the organization might be challenging to an organization. Therefore, this influences the decisions the management has and the steps an organization carries towards achieving total cybersecurity for the organization. The benefit of identifying the crucial information and effects of threats is that the organization will be able to come up with the important information that needs efficient security and come up with ways of ensuring that it is free from jeopardy. The challenge becomes the identification of this information and coming up with the most efficient ways of securing the information.
Part 2: Reflection on self-assessment
Since computer usage is on the rise, cybersecurity becomes part of future career plans since measures of ensuring that I play my role as an individual in avoiding exposure of an organization from being jeopardized. Based on self-assessment, it is important to have leadership skills such as teamwork and to lead by example, since cybersecurity is an individual effort that leads to a group effort. To become a better leader and manager, focussing on understanding the trends and threats that are involved with information is of the essence. This is because it will help have a grasp of what an organization needs to ensure that cyber security is on the check.
Conclusion
Technology is ever-evolving, and due to this, it requires the efforts of leaders and managers to ensure that an organization embraces the changes, challenges, and the opportunities that come with them. Artificial intelligence and cybersecurity are key areas of importance in technological advancements and requires technological minded leaders and managers to ensure the accomplishment of the intended goals of the organization. Therefore, as these technologies take over, leaders and managers need to have the necessary skills that are needed to handle the issues related to these technologies.
