Human Service Organization
Human services are an interdisciplinary field of study that aims to meet people’s needs in a community by fusing existing knowledge. Human services put a lot of emphasis on prevention and mitigating problems to control such issues in a community. According to Yeheshkel (2009), human service organizations have been founded to cater to the essential functions of a society. In this paper, we will focus on ASPIRA Association Inc. and the National Center for Families Learning.
ASPIRA Association, Inc.
ASPIRA is an American company based in Washington, DC to develop the leadership and education capacity of Hispanic Youth. ASPIRA works from the most elemental level to offer programs that motivate Hispanic students to stay in school. ASPIRA Association prepares students for excellence in their various academic fields. Apart from that, ASPIRA aims at developing leadership skills to serve their societies and promote economic growth.
ASPIRA serves approximately 85000 students annually through its ASPIRA clubs that have been established in various schools. ASPIRA does not stop in schools. Instead, it has after school mentorship and guidance programs to give their students guidance as they enter the job market. ASPIRA works with people with different backgrounds such as Asians, Black Americans, and Mexicans.
Associates of ASPIRA meet up with organizations of schools and establish partnerships with them. Apart from school, ASPIRA develops partnerships with other entities such as community leaders, community associations, and businesses to provide compendious programs that develop the leadership capabilities of Youth. ASPIRA is suited to push its prospectus since it has a national scope. ASPIRA has offices in eight states and Puerto Rico. ASPRA aspires to maintain a good relationship with members of the locations where it is located since they get their students from society. Besides having many offices in many different geographical locations, ASPIRA has national partners who are determined to develop the youths since they are tomorrow’s leaders.
ASPIRA has more than fifty-year experience in developing leadership among the Youth in the states in which it was first launched. Apart from being used within the organization, ASPIRA programs are used by many organizations across the world in leadership training. Different organizations using ASPIRA programs has enabled the organization to have an international outreach.
Information technology is essential for any organization. ASPIRA has massive information technology capabilities. ASPIRA is responsible for the management of more than twenty websites. ASPIRA offers web hosting for other community organizations by organizing emails and a national online MIS system. ASPIRA consults the society members to get the courses that the various stakeholders, such as parents and Chief Executive Officers of organizations, would want the youths to learn.
ASPIRA is not just an organization; it is a movement. ASPIRA’s mission is to empower Latina and Puerto Rican community members by advocating for education and leadership in the youthful population.
National Center for Families Learning
NCFL aims at eradicating poverty levels by providing education to families. NCFL offers resources and various literacy strategies and programming. National Center for Families Learning aims at engaging multiple generations in learning. Education is the backbone of all the activities undertaken by NCFL. The NCFL society believes a substantial impact can be created by embracing a holistic approach. NCA has reached one hundred and fifty communities, thirty-nine states in the United States of America. 4.5 million parents and children are part of the National Center for Families community.
Students in NCFL are twice as likely to have more than 90% attendance if their parents have completed more than one hundred and fifty hours of learning programs. NCFL believes that attendance is vital as far as success in education is concerned. Absenteeism may affect academic performance, and the National Center for Families has made it a priority to get rid of it.
Research has shown that students whose parents are involved in school are more likely to perform better than students whose parents are not interested in their children’s schoolwork. More than ninety-five percent of parents enrolled in this organization helped their students with their school assignments. NCFL promotes its members to acquire various necessary skills that are crucial in the market. 49% of members got better jobs owing to training received from this organization.
National Center for Families aims at encouraging collaborative spirit in families. The organization also aims at developing leadership and pushing members to make an impact in their communities.
ASPIRA Association is more effective in its method of addressing the needs of society. This is because the ASPIRA Association has a target group which it can address better than National Center for Families Learning. ASPIRA addresses the condition that is direr in society than NCFL. The youths from non-American backgrounds have been neglected for a long time, and they need empowerment for them to be successful. ASPIRA addresses takes care of exactly that.
