The idea to start up hotel rose due to overflowing guest in our country due to beautiful scenic such as animal parks. Having worked as a tour guide in the past gave me vast ideas on management. My exposure as tour guide provided me with core managerial skills and competencies that are needed to set up and run a hotel since the tourist sector gave me ideas on the kind of hospitality they could want in a hotel. This skills and competencies have laid the solid foundation in the running up hotel .my interest and love for the tourism sector have provided me with a wealth of experiences on how handles and run hotel.

 

The management model of a hotel revolves around the sole proprietorship type of a business. In this case, I am the director and manager of the entire institutions. I manage different departments which include: administration department which entails the human resources, marketing and public relations; customer service department which cater for guest including accommodation and finally, maintenance and food service department which includes the technicians, housekeeper, cooks and dishwashers. I manage these departments, and each has the person in charge of the employee and coordination of various activities within the department to ensure the smooth running of the entire institution.

To ensure the entire organization run smoothly, we have been guided by the key elements which include, trustworthiness, respect, fairness, responsibility, hygiene observant and teamwork. I always give a clear direction and make sure I am always available for help, offer assistance when need arise.

Planning

As a manager, planning is very crucial in running the organization since its aid one to meet company objectives and set goals. These entail allocations of resources and duties delegations to employees, as well as setting logical and realistic timelines and standards for completions. Planning act as a guide to a manager to continue to keep on check on the progress of a team and make an adjustment when the need arises. Thus, ensuring the good reputation of a company is maintained as well as set goals as manager planning help me to determine the responsibilities of each employee in the different departmental unit, setting up priority levels to the specific task assigned.

 

As a manager, have ensured planning and communication go hand in hand since communication is essential in running the organization. For instance, have used planning more so in scheduling employee meeting to discuss goals and the progress on the organization. These have been achieved by putting into consideration the participative style of management in order decisions and ideas of each individual is catered. The style has improved innovative skills of the employee, which have positive impacts on the organization. In this case, the employee feels highly valued by the organization and they get motivated, thus increasing the productivity of the company.

 

Organizing

Organizational skills are equally important since they enable the manager to ensure the entire organization and department runs smoothly. Organizing entails, the establishment of both internal processes and the structure. In this case, as the manager has to ensure employees are best suited for the specified task and keeping all aspects of organizations organized for the proper and effective daily operation of organizations.

As a manager, I also have the role of quick response to new challenges arising in the organization. These can be achieved, for instance, through reorganization like reallocations of duties from one employee to another. However, it can also mean changing employee’s internal structures and duties in response to company health growth.

 

Directing

Projection of a good sense of direction and leadership is very important to the very manager. As a manager has applied some authoritative style of management to ensure employees meet daily task requirement effectively.  As a manager, been ensuring give direction concerning the new changes on services we offer or change in organization policy, these have achieved through effective communication. Therefore, employees are supposed to follow the authority of management in caring out the task as a manager, been monitoring employee closely and keeping constant supervision. In this case, the organization has been running effectively due to quick decision making and having well-outlined roles and expectations.

 

Controlling

To ensure the above managerial function are rhyming with the company objectives and goals, the manager should keep consistent monitoring performance of the employees. Also, as manager has to ensure quality work, efficiency in performance, reliability and completion of allocated duties have adhered. Have ensured the goal and objectives of an organization are met and making necessary changes through quality control in management.

 

 

In conclusion, the acquiring and adhering managerial functions have great benefit in the growth of organizations since they have provided the guidelines on how to keep the operation of the organizations. The style of management has brought the teamwork to the effectiveness since all units are involved in making the decision. For instance, participative style considers the decision for all staffs, thus encouraging all personnel to be innovative and motivated since they are highly valued and accommodated by the management thus improving on the productivity of the organization. Also have put into consideration collaborative management style since the decision of each is discussed, and the majority view is put into consideration; thus, the staffs fell trusted and feel ownership of the outcome. Communication has also helped the organization keep growing since health discussion ascertain problem that may arise will be managed collaboratively. Therefore, an issue like staff’s conflicts is solved before the big issue arises, thus given a remarkable outcome.
