Having A Wish
Introduction
A wish is the strong desire to have something or to possess something you do not have but craves to get. The feeling of achieving a unique fete or fulfill a dream can be said to be a wish. It might fall into multiple categories, depending on an individual’s point of view. Sometimes the hope that something terrible did not exist, or someone could deal with something terrible completely, can be a wish too. It is important to have desires in life, such as achieving higher education, getting a dream job, buying the dream car, or traveling into space. Everyone has a different thing to wish for. It keeps ringing through our minds daily, and most of these wishes require one to act in fulfilling because they motivate our behaviors and thoughts towards them. The passage will explore a wish on one item I have, the reasons I would want it, and how those reasons encourage me to desire it fully.
The item for which I would wish
Most of us young adults in college have many wishes to fulfill, from completing education, getting into lasting relationships, fashion and flashy items, fitness, dealing with pressure from parents, and other life issues. However, these wishes vary depending on an individual, and despite peer pressure taking part in people’s lives and desires, I would wish to eradicate all illnesses from the world! I would want to see everyone living healthy without worrying about falling sick at one point in life. There are multiple reasons why I would not want diseases to exist in the world.
The first reason for the Wish
Cost: The burden that diseases put on people and families is massive to comprehend. Severe and chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes, mental disorders, heart diseases, among others, take an extended time to manage, treat, and control. While epidemics like the present COVID-19 virus usually deplete people’s resources, puts hospitals in jeopardy, and countries are left struggling to manage them. The US spends nearly 3.5 trillion dollars on chronic illnesses annually. These diseases need huge sums of cash to get adequate medication, need modern technologies to detect and treat, and require highly-skilled doctors to handle them. Training doctors is costly; building hospitals and care units, plus buying medicines and supplements are usually expensive.
The Second Reason to Wish
Loss of Life: Chronic diseases like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes are among the leading causes of death in the US, with health statistics indicating that out of ten deaths, seven are related to chronic illnesses. Many people get killed by various illnesses throughout the globe, and countries keep struggling to maintain their healthcare systems and preserve everyone’s lives. Families lose their close members, friends, and neighbors to death due to sudden or long-term illnesses.
The Third Reason to Wish
Stress and Anxiety: When an individual is sick and ailing from a specific health problem, they get anxious and stress. They worry about how they’ll get treatment, food when to recover, and about financial issues. Families that have a sick person struggle to provide care; they worry about work, get nervous, and triggers frustrations or fear among other family members. Stress and anxiety could later develop into chronic mental health disorders, which in itself is a disease.
How these reasons encourage me to wish for this item
The reasons above are what make me wish to eradicate diseases from the globe. People struggle financially, get anxious, and lose their loved ones to illnesses. We need to live stress-free life on the planet, and everyone has to enjoy life fruits to the fullest, not fight diseases, or worry about where to get treatment and what cost it will take in treating them. I wouldn’t wish anyone to fall sick, not you, not me, or anyone else in the world. That’s my wish!
