GLOBAL HEALTH POLICY
Name
Institution
Global health entails knowing health care services internationally and in an interdisciplinary context. It involves studying, researching and practising of medicine to improve health and equity care services for the populations across the world. The initiatives on health across the globe take into account medical and non-medical disciplines. For instance, epidemiology, sociology, economic disparities, public policy, environmental factors, and cultural studies.
Universal Health Coverage is one of the global health policies we have. The World Health Organization, through its leader Dr Tedros, is championing this initiative. On 23 September, the UN assembly is to hold a discussion entitled the “Universal Health Coverage’’. The UN aims to create a healthy life for the populations around the globe. This means that persons and societies need access to health care services without financial hardships. According to the reports from WHO, half of the world population does not access vital health services. Consequently, most individuals spend at least 10 per cent of the household budget on getting health services. The majority of these individuals find themselves in extreme poverty because of expensive health services.
According to WHO data, less than 30 per cent of the African population access the crucial health services while in the developed countries, more than 80 per cent comfortably access the services. A wide range of health stakeholders, including the pharmaceutical industry, is in support of universal health care. The industry has proposals to the UHC in collaboration with its large associations.
