In article 23, The Families on the Fault Line, a story is given of the Bardolino Family. This family consists of Marianne and Tony Bardolino, a couple who seemed to have a well-grounded life. However, this was not true since they had unstable jobs. For three months, Tony had been unemployed from a chemical plant company where he had been earning a living for the past ten years. On the other hand, Marianne worked in a telephone company for the night shifts and always dreamt of affording a new kitchen every day. With the hope of being called back to work at the chemical plant, Tony Bardolino always persuaded himself to believe that their suffering was just but for a short while and not a tragic slide on a downhill. This was, however, false on the company’s side because instead of calling back their workers, there was a decrease in the workforce. As Lilian sat in a little cottage, Marianne shared with her teenage daughter, who was seventeen years of age, about what had dawned on their family. She reported to her that panic was their lifestyle when Tony confirmed that the company would not take him back.

In article 25, Diversity within the African American Families, Donald Tyler wrote on his reflections. He was inspired by his observation and surprising literature of social science that the media presented of the African American families. He wrote this topic of research more than two decades ago, where he knew most of the African American families in the large Southern city where he grew up. Using the analysis and characterization of these African American families, he read various authoritative and scholars’ various accounts. The few authoritative accounts he read acknowledged the diversity in the behaviors, ethnicity, class, and regions within the African Americans’ communities and families.

In a CBS report, that is, ‘The Vanishing Family’ and ‘Crisis in Black America,’ a television documentary in 1986 hosted by Bill Moyers, emphasized on that report. In exclusivity, it pointed out low-income households ruled by single parents in inner cities and termed them as non-families that were vanishing. Moreover, families in urban America were categorized with the majority being African American families. It was a call for attention when less than a quarter of the African American families consisted of poor, single-parent households during the airing of this documentary.

In article 26, Diversity within Latino Families: New Lessons for Family Social Science, Maxine Baca Zinn and Barbara Wells simplified fir the scholar’s important questions that needed to be explored, especially for those who were looking forward to knowing and understanding shifts reshaping society, that is, the social and demographic shifts. These questions needed to explain who Latinos were and how their presence would affect the US society. Understanding the diversity in families is a terrifying task because the majority of efforts lack central and therefore become problematic. In addition to that, the field lacks the equipment to deal with such differences in theory.
Although different groups are included, scholarships in families can destroy and fail to represent by emphasis and the false generalization. The Latino population can only be described in terms of their diverse quality that is also incomparable. In addition to that, this reading explains how examinations of such diversity in the Latino family life come to be. With a brief look into the intellectual trends, family research is done on the Latinos.
