Drawing Conclusions About Research Findings and Their Implications for Clinical Practice
The paper aimed to evaluate how drug round tabards affected the frequency and if they are effective. The paper used several methods to achieve the goals, and three observations were done on the wards. The paper used descriptive statistics as the data analysis method to determine the effects the drug had on the patients (Verweij et al., 2014). The univariable linear regression method of data analysis was also used in the analysis of the data. The research found out that after the drugs were introduced to the patients, there was a reduced rate of interruptions and MAEs. The results indicated that the drug round tabards effectively reduced the interval and frequency of interruption from the patients.
Conclusions
From the findings that were made by the study, it concluded that the use of the drugs had a huge impact on the patients, and it resulted in lesser interruptions in the field. The study indicated that the use of the drug tabards was better and suited to neutralize the interruptions. This gave the nurses an easy time while administering the drugs during their rounds in the wards.
The implementation was favored by the clinicians and medical practitioners in the area. As a way of improving medication, the researchers concluded that the drug round tabards were effective, and they helped make the experience better for the patients. The nurses complained of feeling uncomfortable wearing the tabard, but they were willing to have them if they had evidence of its effectiveness. The conclusions were drawn from the patients’ reactions and the medical attendants involved in the study.
The study further concluded that not all patients knew the tabards’ role and importance, and they did not feel its effectiveness (Verweij et al., 2014). This reduced its effectiveness and the role it was supposed to be playing in reducing the rate of interruptions while giving the drug rounds to the patients in the wards. There was a need to educate the patients more on the tabards’ role to make the nurses conduct their roles without any interruptions. Lack of knowledge on the use and importance of the round drug tabards by the patients led to them interrupting the nurses and delaying them from completing the rounds and caring for all the patients at the required time.
Implications for Practices
The paper found out that the nurses were not comfortable wearing the round drug tabards when doing their ward and drug administration (Verweij et al., 2014). Feeling awkward reduced their impact and also efficiency as they felt they were not looking good. This was compromised when they felt that the tabards were making it effective and easy to administer the drugs without interruptions.
The use of the tabards implicated the interruption by the patients who acknowledged and had learned about the role and use of the tabards that were worn by the nurses as they did their drug rounds in the wards.
The use of the tabards also affected how the patients viewed the nurses, and it made them wait for their chances without interrupting them while administering the drugs to the other patients. This helped in better care for all the patients.
Conclusion
If well managed, the round drug tabards are effective in the wards as they reduced the patients’ interruptions when the nurses were doing their rounds. This will help in better management and also running of the wards.
