The best type of organizational structure for Tim Horton’s is a combination of both products based and geographical structure. The organization deals with the fast-food restaurant chain. The company can operate in different geographical regions, and this makes the products and the services to be localized (Zhang et al., 2018). Thus for it to sell its products and to minimize the cost of operations, it is required to be in several regions. The geographical structuring can help it group itself base on geography. Thus, it can open a different food chain in different regions within the country. The functional structure would also come in handy while grouping the employees into functional areas. The employee the functional can be divided into operation, marketing and sales.

Air Canada

The best organizational structure for air Canada would be a geographical structure. Foremost, it’s important to understand that air Canada is a flag carrier and the largest airline in Canada. Due to this, it operates within different regions across the globe. The geographical, organizational structure would be suitable since the business would open different office and units in different regions. It would allow the company to have functional and reporting systems across multiple locations (García de Soto et al., 2019). The company would be able to operate on separate sites depending on local demand while still being directed by business policy. The geographical offices would report to the executive who would oversee the locations. This structure would benefit the business in several ways. It will have close communication with all local customers and would also be able to better serve the local needs by providing affordable prices depending on geographical area.

Microsoft would be best suited for a product organizational structure. The structure involves several activities like divisions that are centred on specific computer hardware and software products and also organizational outputs. For instance, it can be divide into IT products, Mobile communication products, consumer electronic products, and devices solution products. The company has a large product portfolio where the products and services tend to differ. This structure would also be ideal as it can promote innovation within the company and the different segments (de Kinderen, & Kaczmarek-Heß, 2020). Since the company also deals with technological innovation, product structure would help it gain a competitive advantage in the technological world. Additionally, the company can also adopt the geographical structure as it has many offices in different countries across the globe. The geographical offices would help to sell the company according to product lines and profit centre.
