Dirty old man
I was woken by the smell of coffee and something sweet. I could not remember a thing for a minute, and I just wanted to stay in that position, lost in the luxury of satin white sheets. Then memories from last night crept back into my head all at once, the date, the drinks, the dirty older man touching my everywhere. The memories made the jump from the bed so fast I almost hit my head on the headboard. He was standing by the side of the bed with a breakfast tray in his hands and a smile on his face. ‘morning sunshine.’
I just stared at him for what felt like an eternity. He was wearing a white Tshirt that hugged him tightly and showed his perfectly chiseled body, his arms were bare and bulging with muscles from hours at the gym, and the tiny short he wore did very little to conceal the fact that he was pretty well endowed in places a girl my age had no business noticing in a man his age. Even the wrinkles at the corner of his eyes looked good this morning, and I could feel a little desire building up in me. ‘what happened?’ I croaked, trying to distract myself from the seductive scent of his aftershave and shower gel. ‘I didn’t touch you.’ his tone was slightly defensive, ‘it would have been an assault; you passed out cold.’ I looked down at my crumpled dress for reassurance.
He set the tray on the bed and moved to open the windows. For the first time, I looked around the room, slowly absorbing the high ceiling, the huge bed, the lone painting that looked like it has cost some obscene amount of money but was just a splash of colors on canvas. Then there was this colossal dressing table, tanned wood, and golden knobs; it looked like it had a history like maybe it had been given as a present from some Monarch from a foreign country who’s great-great-grandfather had made it by hand to gift it to the love of his life. It had stayed in the family ever since as a symbol of love. The windows were large, flour to the ceiling, and outside, I could see trees in the distance. I could get used to this, I thought.
‘why aren’t you eating?’ he was walking back to me. ‘your coffee is getting cold. The tray had coffee, omelet, a bowl of fruits, toast, and juice. It all looked so good that I didn’t have it in me to object. I dug in, eating without holding myself back.’ Your friend wouldn’t stop calling last night; I told her you’d call in the morning. Have you checked your phone? ‘ I had thought about it, about how worried Iyvette would be by now, but I just didn’t have the energy to hear her scolding me, so I ignored the urge to reach for my purse, which looked at home on top of the dressing table.’ I’ll talk to her later. ‘ I said, not looking into his eyes.’ someone is shy when she wakes up. You aren’t holding my gaze like you did yesterday.’ I raised my eyes slowly to his. The peppery grey hair on his head suddenly looked attractive, the lines at the corner of his mouth when he smiled… Why hadn’t I noticed all of that last night? I looked down again; my confidence shattered to smithereens. ‘I like to concentrate on my food when I’m eating. He stood up and slowly moved to the door,’ okay, I’ll leave you to your meal, then you can freshen up, and my driver will drop you off anywhere you tell him. I stopped chewing; whoever told him I wanted to go anywhere? Who wants to leave all this luxury.
