Tracking users in social media has been one of the strategies used by various companies to advertise their products. However, most social media platforms and websites users have seen the aspect of cookies and ads in their content to deny their privacy. More so, the tracking tools used consumes most of their data upon their appearance without their approval in most cases. For the culture to be controlled, a series of constraints must be implemented in both social media and websites. Outlining cookies to marketing forms one of the constraints that upon their application will help curb tracking users’ practice. The setting helps in providing an opt-out for consumers, just like the case of Apple. Application of General Data Protection Regulation forms another constraint that will help curb the practices of tracking users.
Being the CIO of a company that depends on tracking for advertisement, my need for constraints will be very low. My main focus will be centered on supporting tracking as it will help increase the sales in our company. Since constraints play a major role in curbing users’ tracking process, as the CIO of a small company that depends on the track, I will support the idea of not applying the constraints. Constraints on tracking will deny my company the opportunity to advertise their products and services to the viewers. It will reduce the confidence that most viewers who accepted ads on social media platforms and websites on our company had before the application of the constraints. I will support tracking as it will provide our company with a better opportunity for expansion and increase the number of shareholders.
