Culture to Academic Audience
I would award the $ 15, 000 to the first project A1 as it successfully brings awareness of art from a little known culture to academic audience. The proposal uncovers the writing art of ancient culture, Nacireman. It reveals and translates the art Nacireman poems. The proposal features 77 artists who creatively use poet to express ideas and emotion. A poem is an art that uses lyric and words that paint a clear picture. The proposal as well create awareness of art from a little known culture to academic audience by discussing bibliographies that showcase the history of art, religion and politics of the Nacireman between 1200 and 1560 C.E.
I believe proposal A1 is best because it uses rhetorical devices to appeal to target audience of the essence of the proposal. The main rhetorical element it applies is ethos, the appeal of credibility to demonstrate the logic and reliability of the proposal. It indicates the profession and status of the individual that commissioned the development of the proposal. The proposal reveals that “Janice Chan-Polin, a professor of transatlantic literature at Stanford University, for her forthcoming edited series.” It shows expertise of the person in-charge of the project poet translation. The proposals as well demonstrate the works of Chan-Polin that are relevant to the project task of translating the Nacireman poems. It also appeals to ethos by talking about the professional experience of the writer. The writer explains that she has twenty five years experience in Nacireman poems and has done numerous works translating Nacireman poems and writing bibliography combination of Nacireman’s history, politics and culture. This proves the authority of the writer in undertaking this project of translating the 77 poet and bibliography combination.
In addition to using an appealing language, the proposal is well structured, where it explain the purpose of the project. It illustrates that it intends to translate a 16th century poem, “Our Glorious Poets: Their Lives and Works,” to demonstrate Nacireman writing and poetic output of their culture. It also indicates show the project will be done and timeline involved translating the poet and writing the bibliography. It is also clear that the writer of the proposal did a good job studying the culture of Nacireman and produced the best results. The author has studied the Nacireman language with first author of Nacireman poetry. The author also has experience translating 60 of the 77 poems. Therefore, he can show the academic audience, peculiarities and art of Nacireman’s culture.
