Context of Education and Training in the Automotive Industry

Automotive engineering is a branch of vehicle engineering which combines material science, electrical and mechanical sectors of the automotive industry. The main task automotive engineers face is designing new vehicles and improving automotive technologies. The industry has proved to be more productive in the past 20 years, transforming from the past centralized technical focus to a wide distribution worldwide (Kuhnert, Stürmer, and Koster, 2018). As the industry grew, the government had to come up with many policies, codes of practice, and guidelines that should be adhered to. These rules affect the appearances of cars, how the car parts are designed, all the security features of vehicles; the rules also mandate the vehicles’ performances. The main objective of all these regulations is to protect the consumers as well as the environment. However, they can bring negative impacts to the automotive industry by increasing the costs of production.

Some documents have all the regulations, giving directions on how to comply with the legal obligations, laws regarding workers’ safety, and occupational health, ranging from the simplest working standards to the most complex technical aspects. Regulatory requirements play an essential role in easing managing all their complex requirements. All the automotive equipment is produced by automotive original equipment manufacturers (AOEMs). IBM company supports funding and transportation of these raw materials.    All these codes make sure that there is consistency in products created by different companies. In today’s market, codes and standards are very important, as many products, come from different materials assembled from different countries. Standards provide consistency, compatibility, safety, and effectiveness of all products and services.

The automotive workshops’ work health and safety clearly outline; all the dangers and risks associated with any automotive industry. Factors such as the wellbeing and physical health of the employees. Injury from machinery and any equipment. The organization has cooperated groups such as the Automotive industry working action group (AIAG) which makes sure each employee is educated on issues relating to Health and safety. Employees heEmployees’n overriding priority. Gender equalities are minimized by the right measure es in the employment process. Which also safeguards all the employees’ data from any form of misplacement. The use of augmented realities, robots, and wearable devices has helped to protect the workers’ safety.

Further, the automotive industry has a code of practice that every member should follow when undertaking a safety-related recall. For example, collision repairs stipulate that every car owner should decide on a specific garage where they would like their vehicles to be repaired. But they should be aware of the different levels of services provided by different car repairers. Making sure every consumer has access to the correct technical information the industry produces a handbook that correctly illustrates the components of their machines with examples and diagrams.

Many sources propose that organizational learning is a viable strategy for the automotive industry so that producers could easily adapt to changing environments (MacNeill and Bailey, 2010). It is a requirement that the international automakers should be able to create products with simple methods and cultures that will meet the requirements of all the local customers, laborers, and also the suppliers’ abilities. It is important to consider the local and regional trends of automotive manufacturing, as well as the geographical location of the plant construction. The traffic volumes can easily be calculated by the product of transported units multiplied by the distance covered in transporting the units (Morello et al., 2011).

It is important to identify the key skills as well as competencies required from individuals to establish a high employment rate for future generations. Technology subjects who provide knowledge, skills, the old and new technologies regarding the vehicles, mechanical and electrical parts are needed for new engineers who have sets of horizontal strategic skills and competencies related to business management (Rodriguez, 2011). Hence there is a need for more integrated engineers, who can easily analyze, make rightful decisions based on the type of work they are doing and the systems they are fixing. The new curriculum should highly invest in a labor force that will be able to easily address all the society’s issues and create innovations from the entrepreneurship point of view.

Laws such as the automobile safety act must be obeyed in any type of specifications. These laws have a direct impact on the specifications of any automobile. They also make sure that the organization’s requirements comply with government protocols. The limitations are given on how the cars should look like, their specifications. Has greatly affect my area.
