INTRODUCTION

A choir is a chosen group of people in a church that represent songs and is chosen and approved by the church board. A choir member must be;

  • A member of the church or,
  • Be in baptismal class or has requested transfer in of his/her name

A choir member should have the following attributes:

  • Be of good standing
  • Have good report from church members/talking well
  • Show love and unity in the choir
  • Know that they are first preachers
  • Have good spiritual standing
  • Eating and dressing well as a Christian

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Despite the COVID-19 pandemic challenges, we thank God that we have maintained our membership at twenty seven members.
  • Volume III training. At the beginning of the year, we had started training of Volume III songs but when meetings were proscribed due to CORONA VIRUS, the training was put on hold until this quarter when we resumed the training and we are looking forward for recording.
  • Cooperation from members. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the choir members have been cooperative whenever there was a call of duty. It was during this quarter that one of us John Oroko and one of Church member Henry Nyandwaki were bereaved and the church choir was able attend the funerals at Kisii County to mourn with the bereaved  families
  • Spiritual growth. To enhance spiritual growth, members were assigned duties to lead in devotions before choir practice which has contributed to individual and overall growth in spirituality of choir members.
  • Presentation of songs. During the quarter, the ban on worship meetings was provisionally lifted and the choir has been able to present items before the church with reference to the Ministry of Health protocols in reducing the spread of CORONA VIRUS.

CHALLENGES

  • Resumption challenges. After a long break due to CORONA VIRUS, some choir members had challenges in resuming the normal choir activities to the extent of forgetting the choir constitution.
  • There were some cases of absenteeism from members that really hindered the smooth progress of the choir activities like training of new songs.
  • Late coming. There was poor time management from some members that really hindered the choir activities.
  • Lack of complete uniform. Some members have not made efforts to have complete choir uniforms despite being reminded always about the same. Specifically, there is some disregard by some members to wear neck ties and flowers as required which brings about loggerheads with the leadership.

RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Refresher of the choir constitution. Members should be reminded of the rules and regulations of the choir and that they should endeavor to adhere to the choir constitution for efficient running of the choir.
  • Members should be encouraged to attend choir training sessions in time or ask for apology or write a letter if they have any special cases.
  • Members should endeavor to be good stewards of time.
  • Members who do not have complete uniforms to make efforts and buy uniforms.
