REFLECTION The legitimacy issue in the article is the three men placed on the death row in Louisiana being placed in the solitary confinement as prison policy requires such individuals to be isolated. Mr. Hamilton, Mr. Eaton, and Mr. Perry have been held in solitary confinement because of being convicted of the first-degree murder and sentenced to death in Louisiana for more than two decades. As per the justice ruling, the article has presented 71 prisoners that pass through the same settings at the state prison at Angola. This triggered the civil right officials and the plaintiffs’ lawyers to file a lawsuit that focused on overturning the prison policy of placed the inmates sentenced to death in isolation. The prison policy and the conditions that the inmates are subjected to seem potential to undermine the legitimacy of the criminal justice system. The components of procedural justice also are significantly undermined. The aspect of respect, fairness, a voice that make the legitimacy of criminal justice to be vital towards solving problems is lost through prisoners being placed in isolation for decades.…

In qualitative studies, the ongoing process of questioning is an integral part of understanding the unfolding lives and perspectives of others” (Agee, 2009). The quality of the initial questions impacts whether or not a dissertation committee approves a study, published, or funded (Agee, 2009). “At the heart of this approach are methods for representing what Geertz (1973, 10) called the ‘microscopic’ details of the social and cultural aspects of individuals’ lives… He noted that it is not enough to describe a wink and label it as a behavior. Why or why not? This reading is challenging in that it challenges and stretches the thinking of a reader who does not have background knowledge in civil law. Even when the reader has a background in law, a new topic is hard to grasp the cadent when the idea dealt with is difficult (Kauffman & Martin, 2018). The NHS The NHS has been struggling to meet the dire health needs of the tax-payer population. Needs for various healthcare services have been evolving, more so in the last few decades such that conditions such as obesity and overweight, diabetes, and drug resistance have arisen as essential healthcare concerns that face an increasing part of the general population. The adoption of new technology that saves more lives has made it impossible for the NHS to stall the increased healthcare costs that amount to 10 billion pounds annually. Moreover, changes in the health care sector, pushing for centralization of services has led to the closure of local services. As a result, people are relying more on the private sector, which undermines the purpose of NHS. Currently, the NHS has been struggling with operational efficiency due to the reduction of government spending, making the organization to seek other methods of health care providers such as out-of-hospital to reach the vast population. However, out-of-hospital service will lead to loss of income to hospitals and requires commitment for its implementation. The government has…

Jules Evans: How Philosophy Can Save Your Life at TEDxBreda Name of the Student Course Institution Date     In “My philosophy for a happy life” TEDx Talks, Jules Evans discusses the medieval Greek philosophy of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy). He says that as he begins to do explore it,  it’s a revelation. The origins of his narrative reside in his experience of cognitive therapy in the healing of post-traumatic syndrome. Although he relates to individual experience only in passing, the philosophical roots behind his therapy are what grips him. He describes the compelling story of the enslaved Epictetus, disabled by a brutal master, educated by a decent man, liberated and then banished; thus Epictetus held out his ideals in his life. His central aphorism: that we should not struggle because of circumstances, but instead because of the opinions we have regarding the events. For instance, influenced meditations of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, dispersed Stoic concepts throughout the Roman empire, and 2,000 years later remained the basic principle of CBT. Through the origins of rationalism…
