Justin Nguyen 05, Raymon Lam, Thi Vu, Ali Almarri, Daniel Mendoza, Jason Martinez, Arturo Hernandez Executive Summary The collapse of the FIU pedestrian bridge that was under construction on March 15, 2018 was a fatal incident that could have been prevented with more thorough communication. The bridge had been built with multiple contractors involved, the main one being the contractor MCM, and the bridge’s design engineer FIGG Bridge Engineers. The failure to meet construction specification requirements went unnoticed by the inspectors, contractors, and designers as they went for routine checks. There was a FIGG-led meeting on-site the morning of the collapse where the designers saw no safety concerns from the revealed cracks. With all the testing and “review” the bridge still collapsed hours after. The design of this pedestrian bridge involved a state of the art construction technique on which the actual bridge deck is built on site but next to the final location of the bridge above traffic. The first step of the process involves the construction of the substructure (foundation and columns). Subsequently, the bridge deck is transported…

Explain the impact the theory of consumer choice has on higher interest rates. Consumer theory Consumer theory is a concept in economics that refers to how people decide to spend their funds by considering their budget constraints and preferences. The individual’s income determines the budget constraints and spending levels in the consumer theory within a given period. Answer to the question Interest rates refer to the extra amount of money individuals or companies pay after borrowing a loan for a given period. The theory of consumer choice affects high-interest rates in that it declines the level of consumer spending in the economy. It also indicates that when interest rates are high, the current consumption becomes expensive; thus, individuals will reduce their consumption quantities. However, high-interest rates raise the rate of borrowing; thus, consumers will reduce the level of borrowing hence reducing their income level and spending…
For decades designers have developed various costumes that best suits different characters and occasions in which we are involved in (Arnold, 1998). Some of the designs are meant for unique groups or gathering such as weddings, possessions, and events. At some point in my life, I was mistaken to be a member of a wedding steering committee simply because I was wearing the same t-shirt label as the committee members. My response to this situation was purely based on instinct. I was shocked at the beginning of the incident but later gathered my courage and had a formal introduction with the committee members. I assured them that I’m not a member of the team, only that we share the t-shirt label that we wore on that particular day. This explanation was convincing, and all the misunderstanding was settled. The experience was crucial for my life since it opened my eyes to identify the clothes I should be wearing whenever I go out or walk across the streets. It is very critical that people choose their clothes very wisely lest they…
