the phrase “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is perceived to be a simple but widely used phrase theta was coined by lance in the year 1977. Since its introduction, the phrase has spread significantly and has become a key source of inspiration to most individuals across the globe.  The meaning of this phrase attempts to affirm that if a certain thing is not actually broken and it is working well, there is usually no need to make an attempt to modify or improve it further.  The phrase is mainly used to warn the people who continuously try to change how certain things or systems operate because they are not satisfied with how they function. This paper intends to create a brief argument that supports the phrase if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and to make a case why people should not really try to correct issues that actually do not exist.

Interrupting   Something That Is Functioning Can Make the Current Situation Worse

when people try to alter things or systems because they are unsatisfied with how they function, they usually destroy the entire system’s operation or create other serious problems that did not exist.  In the current business perspective, some businesses may try to enhance their operating systems in order to improve the customer care experience and enhance market dominance; however, they usually end up damaging or worsening the user’s experience when using the system.  This phrase is also more applicable in this era of increased market completion and software dominance, whereby businesses continuously make certain improvements to improve the user’s experience.  For instance, according to a survey on the recent changes that were made on the WhatsApp platform, most people using the social media site expressed increased dissatisfaction with the latest updates.  Although the WhatsApp developers introduced the changes as a competitive strategy, they failed to consider what the WhatsApp users needed.  Based on the WhatsApp developers’ mistake, it is clear that before making any significant change in any system operation, the leaders should first try to consult the users and other key stakeholders.  For instance, if the WhatsApp developers had conducted an extensive survey on the effectiveness of the services offered, they would have realized that the users were more contented with current features; therefore, there was no need for improvements.

It Wastes Essential Time and Demotivates the Quality Workers.

The constant and unnecessary disruptions of the existing workflow do not affect the individuals who spend most of their time idol in the offices; instead, they affect the general workers who perform the workplace’s crucial tasks. To maintain their work commitment, these workers usually depend on creating well-selected policies, procedures, and a workflow that every individual understands and respects.  If there are any unnecessary changes in the policies and procedures, the committed workers usually find the job very difficult to accomplish, resulting to increased burnout and absenteeism. In some cases, the employees may decide to relocate to a new working environment where the policies and procedures are not interrupted unnecessarily.

Conclusion

Based on my assessment, I tend to support the statement because it is not good to interrupt the operations or functioning of certain things, mainly because you can make the current situation worse or mess with the entire operation.  Despite experiencing increased dissatisfaction, the best way to hand tissue is by just leaving things alone until the users raise a complaint concerning the system.
