Bullying in Middle School

Bullying is a common virtue in almost all middle schools across the United States of America. It is a relevant topic of discussion on middle schools as many individuals suffer from the problem severely. The article uses research conducted from three well known middle schools, assumed to represent others due to similarity in characteristics. The research involves interviewing 10 students and 10 teachers from the same schools who obviously have had a background in bullying. Interviews were done individually, to fetch the truth and maintain the confidentiality of the interviewees. The research was based on data from students who have had experienced or even present in a scene of bullying in their school. Students and teachers had their own individual views on bullying aired to the interviewers, showing how crucial bullying was to the schools. Consequences of bullying remain rigid, without consideration of the intentions either of the subject or even the bully.

After listening to the comments and views of the subjects in the interview, the article came up with several conclusions gathered from both students and teachers on effects and even other problems aligned with bullying in schools. Drug and alcohol abuse is a major consequence of bullying in middle schools, as most of its addicts usually suffer from bullying in their respective schools. Other effects are pregnancies, school dropouts, failing to attend classes and eventual commitment of suicide by individuals. Some recommendations to control consequences included; frequent assessment of school climate, analyzing curriculum and instructions and finally setting up an anti-bullying curriculum to control humiliation. However, implementation of these recommendations could be difficult for most schools considering the expenses.

Information in the article is reliable as it basically reflects on bullying based on factual evidence. Interviews are one of the most effective ways of collecting data, especially on information that directly affects the subjects. The flow in the same article is perfect as it systematically covers all aspects associated with bullying in middle school. However, the article still has a challenge in providing a perfect solution for bullying in middle school. It has genuinely covered the topic but unable to give a solution to the problems accustomed to bullying. I think with the information, the authors could have given a good solution for humiliation woes to middle school students.
