A country has several duties beyond its borders; this are among others working with other countries to tackle climate and environmental challenges; a country must work with other international communities to acknowledge the reality of climate change and take urgent action to limit the crippling effects on our global community. It must look for consensus and greater support for vulner5able nations to increase their resilience to climate risks and adapt to their impacts. (“Beyond Borders: Our changing climate – its role in conflict and displacement – World,” 2020) It must participate in international agreements that will clarify the rights and ensure the protection of climate refugees. It must participate in agreements such as the Paris agreement to cut greenhouse gas emission and ensure temperature rise is kept below 1.50c (“Beyond Borders: Our changing climate – its role in conflict and displacement – World,” 2020)
A country has an obligation to ensure human rights are not just breached within its territory but also beyond its borders. Some intergovernmental(“Human Rights Beyond Borders: A Call for International Solidarity,” 2020) corporations through their business activities directly affect interfere with human rights for workers. eg, displacement of people fro their land abroad; therefore, a country has a duty to come up with laws and treaties with other countries in regards to rights of workers and other people, be it its citizens working abroad
Beyond its borders, a country has a duty to negotiate bilateral and multilateral trade agreements with other countries(“Trading across Borders Good Practices – Doing Business – World Bank Group,” 2020). This helps to ensure that time and cost for complying with border formalities are negligible. This also allows traders from both countries to exchange information with customs and control agencies electronically and reducing customs clearance time since also risk assessments are used and limits physical inspection to only a small percentage of shipment(“Trading across Borders Good Practices – Doing Business – World Bank Group,” 2020)
Beyond its borders, a country has a duty to participate in international sports .sport plays a critical role in overcoming hurdles to peacebuilding and sustainable development between countries. (“Transcending Borders, Sport Plays Critical Role in Overcoming Hurdles to Building Peace, Sustainable Development, Speakers Tell General Assembly | Meetings Coverage and Press Releases,” 2020) Sport could also be a tool to bring warring parties from different countries together and empower young people.
