Introduction
The main purpose of the assignment is to focus on the design problem taking place majorly. A design problem refers to any circumstances that arise while designing a project. It is generally taken into consideration at the time of an unsolved state or an issue that a system is designed. The design problems should be wisely considered by the designers while designing a project. Therefore, this assignment’s chosen design problem is the ‘Behavioral Problem’ that takes place in the designation of the project on a major basis. Behavioral Problem is the problem that mainly comes with the personality of the projectors individually. It causes various issues in the overall process because the behavioral problems are associated with the individual thought process and the different perceptions of each member that might not match each other. In general, behavioral problems are described in terms of its nature, frequency, severity, and duration.
Hence, the overall assignment will be focusing on the behavioral problems that occur in the designation of a project. In the report, there will be a discussion on the background of the problem, its impact, response, and solution to that problem. Further, the report will be referring to one design and explain the expected design outcomes and time management of the same.
Background of the Design Problem
Behavioral Problems have been one of the major issues that take place in design project management. Most of the researches and examiners have identified that in many cases, the members who are entitled to one project to design can come from different natures and behaviors that might clash during deciding on a single project design. Therefore, this is the main problem that projectors go through while designing a project. In general, the cultural differences in the workplace can also cause the behavioral problem in project management because members with a different culture can have different ways of working individually and hence can lead to confusion in working as a team. The teamwork might not be well developed, which would result in a negative outcome of the overall project (Scielo.br, 2020).
Generally, each teamwork should have a common target, goals, and thought process and should develop a strong bond within each other to ensure a proper and useful outcome at the end. Therefore, the behavior problems in the design project involve a form of disruptive behaviors in the teamwork and can result in chaos in the overall process that could delay the complet6ion of the work. As per many examiners, the behavioral problems while designing a project can be caused by the members’ lack of capability to handle the situation. In most cases, members entitled in a project cannot deal with the opposite perception, and hence, a conflict between members will occur. As a whole, it can be said that a behavioral problem can lead to an unwanted situation while designing a project of any form and destroys the time management process of the project (blog.zilicus.com, 2020).
Impact of the Design Problem
There are various impacts of the behavioral problem in the design of a project, some of which are explained as follows:
Hindrance in Communication: It is a fact that problems or issues in behavior among people can lead to massive chaos in the project management process. Therefore, one of the major impacts of behavior issues is a hindrance to communication. It is because, while designing a project, there will be individuals from different cultural backgrounds with different natures, which is the main reason behind behavioral issues. As a result, these differences cause problems in the process of communication regarding the designation of the project. Further, these communication problems will lead to major problems in the project design.
Conflicts: Conflict is the major impact of the behavioral problem in project management because the clash in the perception of a different member entitled to one project causes massive misinterpretations within the team. It can also cause a delay in the completion of a particular project. There can be a problem in developing useful teamwork and perform with a single goal. One thought and behavior of a single person will overlap another’s behavior, which means that there will be conflict within the team members regarding their nature, personality, and their individuality (Apm.org.uk, 2020).
Lack of understandings: In a team, there will be a person with aggressive nature, short-tempered nature, a person who lacks confidence, and many more of such natures or personalities. Therefore, it falls under the category of behavioral problems. While designing a certain project, such behavior problems can cause misunderstandings among team members of the project. Lack of understanding is also the major cause of behavior problems, as one of the team members will understand a particular subject in his own way and another in his own way. Therefore, understanding skill disappears in most cases while designing a project due to behavioral problems (Murthy and Sreenivas, 2020).
Response to the Design Problem
In general, any kind of design problem should be responded in a useful and optimistic way so that such problems do not result in the worst outcome once the project is completed (Social-hire.com, 2020). Therefore, the responses that are required for the behavioral problem are as follows:
Consider the team members’ ideas: If there is a behavior problem while designing a project, then there should be a consideration of all the ideas provided by each team member. After this consideration, the entire member should come up with one combined thought that is supposed to be utilized while designing the project (Pm4id.org, 2020).
Create suitable team members: If there is a random selection of team members for designing a project, behavior problems have a high chance to occur. Hence, the management must make the team capable of designing the projects and has similar skills and knowledge. In this way, there will not be any conflicts of thoughts and ideas, and hence the project can be completed in a given time (pmi.org, 2020).
