Introduction

My educational psychology has developed for the last few years and assisted by learning. I now realize that I can build my classroom with a biology subject, given that I have love and passion for the subject. My philosophy provides me with the idea that the classroom will be of enhancing a community of learners. I want my students to develop cognitive behavior and improve their intellectual capacity. Many factors help in implementing a classroom to produce a community of learners. These will include establishing a good rapport with learners, increase their motivation, teacher clarity, ensure student engagement, and finally use rewards and penalties.

Biology is a subject that studies the vital processes of living things. It is concerned with the physicochemical facets of life. It sometimes overlaps with other disciplines such as chemistry, physics, and medicine in investigating natural processes. Studying Biology in high school helps the learner to understand the world better in its evolution, survival, and changes. The learner acquires knowledge to interact with living organisms and understand how human bodywork. Those who learn biology can be able to identify diseases and their cure. Biology knowledge provides a suitable environment that is lively for both learners and teachers. I will teach this subject to improve the learner’s intellectual capacity, understand diversity between themselves, and improve their motivation. Making a lively classroom through question and answer tests will be emphasized (Woolfolk, 2015).

Teaching Plan

  1. Learning Structure

I will develop a biology learning structure that will make the students feel comfortable in the classroom environment because they will know what they are expected to do specifically. This will equip the students with a sense of personal responsibility, which will help them manage their behavior in the classroom (Woolfolk, 2015). I will develop routines related to the subject, like cleaning and planting trees in which the students will follow to reduce classroom boredom. I would like to have a biology plastic drawer in which the students will be turning their biology assignments as they enter the classroom in the morning. These are a few ideas for making a routine that will benefit the learners in the classroom environment. When these routines are efficiently used, they will significantly increase the student’s classroom performance and reduce any destructing behavior issues.

  1. Group Discussions and Homework

I will organize the learners in ideal groups and provide them with problem-solving tasks. These group discussions are brain-based as they help the learners develop new ideas and make relevant contributions. This is an effective way of enhancing cognitive development to a student. Students improve their thinking capacity when discussing with one another in a classroom, each one contributing his or her ideas in a learned way. This helps the students to report their ideas voluntarily, and this positively impacts their mode of interaction. It develops their mind and prepares them to encounter even challenging topics in a straightforward way, thus helping students. My educational psychology proves that this teaching plan helps in the cognitive development of a student.

I will be giving the students homework on topics that will involve parent-learner interaction. The learner will acquire essential knowledge from the parent, which is crucial for cognitive development. When it comes to biology homework, the students take notes about biology definitions, and they can also do home experiments. The home environment provides a diverse understanding of natural processes, improving the students’ positive perception of the subject.

  • Classroom Contributions

I will involve the learners in the classroom work by making them contribute directly by answering questions. When they get it right, Rewards will be necessary to keep up the excellent work. I will correct those who go wrong in a friendly manner and encourage them to try to give out their personal opinions on any questions or concepts that they do not understand. I will focus on the topic of language’s neurobiology to optimize the way learners develop their vocabulary. I will expose them to the environmental and genetic factors to produce a perfect way to build communication skills.

  1. Student Motivation

Some biology topics such as cell division, hormone regulation, nervous system, protein synthesis, and genetic manipulation are considered difficult by students. I will choose to introduce teaching with the most comfortable topics, such as nutrition and animal behavior. This will change the student’s negative attitude towards biology as a subject, thus acting as motivation and addressing the student’s differences and needs as far as the subject is concerned (Woolfolk, 2015). This is a way of preparing the student for the difficult topics, and, with a positive attitude towards the subject, they will be able to understand the content. The other thing is to make the class a student-centered one where students can discuss different topics learned and their understanding of them. This will improve their concepts and boost their self -esteem towards biology. When these discussions are held, I will close watch each student’s abilities and encourage them whenever they go wrong. Selecting relevant topics will also motivate the students to know the importance and application of biology in their lives.

  1. Laboratory experiments

I will ensure that the biology lab conforms to the current trends in digital transformations. I will guide the students in performing scientific experiments during some biology lessons. This will improve their degree of creativity and critical thinking. This will boost their intellectual capacity in making biological inventions (Woolfolk, 2015). The laboratory practical will function like visualized lessons of the theoretical part of classwork. When students visualize, they improve their memories, and they get motivated towards succeeding in exams.

Furthermore, students shall see the biology lessons’ practicability hence getting motivated to pursue it in their future endeavors. This is true because interaction with a particular biological tool can make you advance it and come up with a new update of the same. Different students have different abilities, and their way of thinking depends on adapting to different environments.

  1. Behavior Modification plans

I will use cognitive behavioral therapy to help the learners understand their behavior and self-regulate them. This is because some students suffer from depression, mental issues, and anxiety. I will do the self-monitoring of the students by comparing their behavior with fellow students. This is because a student may be struggling in an interruptive classroom, given that they need a quiet classroom. After identifying that student, I will develop the mechanisms of monitoring the behavior frequently and help him or her self-check the progress as such an environment is provided. This will help build the student’s behavioral cognitive, and a constructive learning aspect will be ensured.

  • Violence Prevention

Students have different cultural origins. This should not have a way for violence to occur in my classroom. I will not tolerate that, given that I aim to create a class environment where learners feel safe and secure to learn, and any violence will defeat my work of achieving this goal. With my assistance, the learners will develop inevitable consequences for violence and the dangers of bullying one another. I will create opportunities for my students to work as a team often, similar to diverse students.

Conclusion

With my educational psychology, I will achieve a safe learning environment that will lead the students to flourish. All the teaching plans I have mentioned will shape the students into a safer community and help them to understand the importance of working together as a team. I will recognize my students and make them realize that they have a lot of strength and uniqueness. I will use humor because when the students smile, they will enjoy the classroom environment. I will instill in the students a love for biology, and by so doing, I believe that the classroom environment will be welcoming.
