In Australia, the oil and gas sector has been accredited as the main actor for economic development. Despite fossil fuels catering for energy wants in Australia, the scientific consequences of burning fossil fuels remain a threat. looby groups such as The Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA) seek to influence policy change within this sector. Globally, in 2015, five major oil companies and looby groups spent approximately $150 million (Arup, n.d.). This illustrates the financial cost oil and gas companies spent to influence the climate change policy that seeks to keep world temperatures below an average of two degrees. Clearly, policymakers and the Australian government benefit financially from oil and gas. APPEA spent almost $4 million last year .trying to “obstruct” a more ambitious climate change policy, according to InfluenceMap, a British research group (Arup, n.d.). This shows the energy sector puts pressure on lawmakers to support conventional and unconventional oil and gas production. By lobbying, APPEA can influence policy by using consultations, messaging, advertising, and public campaigns.

The real-estate sector indeed is ha s had a great influence on influencing government and policy makers. as stated, it has allowed the government to promise affordable housing and economic stimulus projects. additionally, in pressuring policy makers to support unrestricted conventional oil and gas production, the oil and gas sector has also been beneficial had
